The best album closing song gave me the idea to start a thread about this. IMO, the best first songs are:

I forgot about the Dissection album. At The Fathomless Depths is a good lead into Night's Blood, which is the first full song on the album, and also the best song on the album IMO.

There was a topic exactly like this not so long ago. imo, these are kinda dodgy, i mean, it's really just like saying what's your fave album, there's such an infinite amount of first songs that are good, and so as a consequence seem like good openings. I don't consider Pierced From Within a special opening song to the album of the same name. Why? Because it's not different enough or great enough to justify an energy or pace that's introduced at the start and carries through to the rest of the album, partly because the rest of the album is of equal or greater quality. I think Pierced From Within gets gradually better with each song, though that IS only my opinion of course, I really don't see why anyone would think the title track is a world-class opener.
Lets strain the brain before we type the hype.
