wow, this is tough ... went with Obituary though for consistency on that disc

Tough.

For me, it's a toss up between Pestilence, Nile, and Death in that list. That's not to say I don't like the Morbid Angel or Cryptopsy records either....

I prefer other Death albums, like "Sounds of Perseverance" and "Individual Thought Patterns", so I'm going with Nile.

It's all about atmosphere at the end of the day.

I have a hard time picking between Carcass, Dismember, Cryptopsy, Obituary, and Suffocation.

Well, Suffocation* doesn't come close to those others so you can knock that one out of your conundrum. :p

* overrated

if there is anything that is overrated it is DISMEMBER ... second rate at best.

Yeah, but could that be classified as straight up DEATH METAL? I was gonna add it, but decided not to. If so, that is my choice, easily.

Aeternus is about as "straight up death metal" as Sepultura and Amon Amarth. :Spin:

I dunno....even with Possessed, I think I'd rather go with Slayer's "Hell Awaits" or Celtic Frost's "To Mega Therion".

You can see a pattern emerging here.... Me no likey "straight up" DM.

And if I went with something modern, I'd probably go with the new GOJIRA or RUDRA. :kickass:

and slayer :loco:

out of those i went with Asphyx. I love those slowing down moments and then BAM MY HRAM!

I also love that Carcass disc. THe Autopsy is tops too.

see I don't see GOJIRA as DM ... I don't even know what to classify them as ...

The new Rudra has been kicking my ass for the past week!!! :kickass:

Maybe it's about time I finally gave Gojira a decent chance since Ive been in a DM mood for the first time in 3 years.

and that Demilich album is WAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYY overrated.

i still need scream bloody gore and leprosy
