I havent heard Psycroptics new album, I hated their first one though, is it much different? Everyone keeps saying its really good, I am skeptical however...

Ive been recommended Cryptopsy before, but that really technical stuff bores me, like Meshuggah and stuff, its cool to listen to just to hear how far people can push technical boundaries, but id rather listen to "proper" songs.

I might find an MP3 of Psycroptics new one. I got the first album for free off someone at work who won it in some competition and the second they heard it they put it on my desk and said I could have it. Ill have to find it, its at work somewhere.

No that is the beauty of Cryptopsy, it's extremely tech, but the songs still flow.

I wouldnt say Paul Bostaph was clear cut inferior to Portnoy or Donati, theres a smaller difference between Bostaph and those guys and a MASSIVE one between Tommy Lee and Sandoval and Trym.

I'm sorry but you just made me spit a mouthfull of water across my keyboard. I'm a massive fan of Bostaph, but he is NOWHERE in the league of Portnoy and Donati! Ok maybe Portnoy in someways (nowhere near his technical ability though) but come on.... Virgil fucking smokes pretty much all the guys in this poll. He just plays the "wrong" kind of music to get fully appreciated by most. I've seen him blaze quicker then anyone else but he rarely does it unless the situation calls for it. Since he plays mainly fusion/jazz/whatever the fuck you wanna call Planet X his focus isn't on balls out speed, more technicality.

And before anyone comments on "technical means nothing cause he has no flow".... remember, he played for Southern Sons AND Tina Arena. Plus being the session drummer for fuck knows how many pop and rock artists.

Oh god now I'm starting to sound like a Donati fanboy.... fuck it, I am and I'm damn proud of it!

Umm I didnt say Paul was as good as Donati or Portnoy, I said the difference between Bostaph and Portnoy/Donati is WAY, WAY smaller than the difference between Tommy Lee and Trym/Sandoval...
