Best horror movie ever?

The Ring is a propaganda movie put out by the studios to finally kill off VCRs.
The movie just isn't as scary on DVD.

The movie that Really scared me as a kid was ET. Dont ask me why it just did.

___________ - I can't remember the name of this movie to save my life. I have asked three other people who have seen it but none of them remember the name either. Anyway, its about these little people that live under the stairs and at the end, they grab the main character and drag her underneath the stairs, never to be seen again. This one truly scared the crap out of me.

yep, I snuck a watching of this when i was about 7 or 8 years old against my parents strick warnings. i had nightmares for about a week then, i needed to see every other horror movie i could watch.

Thanks! The name of the movie has been driving me crazy for a while now. For some reason I thought they were under the stairs but it was a fireplace. Regardless, it scared the crap out of me. I can't believe something like that was a made-for-tv movie.

I don't think I have seen Gargoyles. I have seen a lot of "scary" movies (some big budget but a lot of low budget ones too) in my time but I don't think that is one of them.

Yeah, there were some great TV horror shows and Gargoyles was one of them. The music got me every time and even today when I watch it's just so cool . Stan Winston, F/X artist, (The Thing, Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park) got his start in this movie but they're actually kinda funny looking. Still, you got this part where the music is going and the gargoyle is at the end of the bed and your like "Wake up asshole!" Another decent TV one was 'Burnt Offerings'.

The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre was and always will be the best.

The original (I hate having to type that, fucking remakes) Amityville Horror scared the bejeezus out of me as a kid!

Pretty much anything post-1985 is crap. Once in a while something decent comes by, but the 1970's-early 80's were definitely the heyday of horror.
