On topic, I like all their albums, but if I had to put them in row

1. Blessing In Disguise
2. Metal Church
3. Hanging In the Balance
4. The Dark
5. The Human Factor
6. A Light In the Dark
7. The Weight of the World
8. Masterpeace

Oh what a brain numbing question! How the do I pick? ...??....???? ... the top spot is a toss up between Blessing and The Dark .... ...

3. Human Factor
4. Hanging in the Balance
5. Masterpeace
6. The Weight of the World
7. A Light in the Dark
8. Metal Church

I love everything Metal Church has done! Great Band

The first one, as it's the only one I really like. Saw them live a couple times though, once on the s/t tour, and once on The Dark. Great live band.

I liked them until the Blessing in Disguise then after that I really had no use for them. Now the band is a complete joke...

Why is this? Blessing in Disguise is a pretty kickass album, though the only one after that that I've heard is their recent "A Light in the Dark"...

"Blessing In Disguise" has my vote as their best technically speaking, although I'm very partial to "Hanging In The Balance".

I prefer Howe era anyday to Wayne era, and bessides after "Masterpeace" is no MC anymore. More Vanderhoof band by another name IMO.

I've only got the first two and The Dark is the better one. It's solid throughout while the self-titled is awesome up to Gods of Wrath and the second half is totally forgettable. The only bad thing about The Dark is the weak production but that might just be a cd-related issue as is the case with a lot of 80s albums...
I know many people say it's a myth but many of the early cds do have very weak sound when compared to the vinyl versions.

Metal Church was blessed to have two kick-ass eras. I enjoy both the Wayne and Howe era. Easily, their "masterpiece" in my ears is "Blessing in Disguise" though. It makes my top ten releases of all-time. Most people here know I am a Tad Morose nut and probably one of the biggest reasons is Urban era TM reminds me a great deal of Howe era Metal Church only with better production and backing vox.

I like the first album the best. Then "The Dark" and then "Blessing In Disguise". After those albums I lost interest.

O and I saw them live at the Aardschok day in 1986 with Wayne just after "The Dark" was released. One of the best gigs I ever saw. Must be one of my 3 favorite live performances ever. When I saw them live just after "Masterpeace" they were horrible!

Same for me, and just like Wyv I happen to prefer Howe era over Wayne era, even though the latter deserved all the praise. But the band had a stronger personality with Howe in its ranks to me.

It's very much like comparing Ozzy to Dio-era Sabbath in many ways. While Ozzy is the more "Classic" era, Dio was actually melodic and the songs were better written and not so "Raw"

Same goes for Metal Church. Howe was the better (Read: more melodic) singer of the two and the songs he sang on, were arguably better written. The Wayne-era stuff is more in the thrash/raw sounding vein. The first four albums were classics nonetheless.

The first !!

(And I was also at that concert Hawk mentioned...indeed probably one of the best metal gigs EVER !! ):worship:
