i started watching jacobs ladder last night and fell asleep 30 minutes into it. nothing happened and my attention span isnt very long.

I think it's the journey which is fun and matters more. The fact that it made sense is a good thing..there are a lot of similar movies out there which just don't give you any thinking space and only show the twist at the end. I find those movies to be poorly written, however complicated the plot might seem. You don't get to participate actively in trying to understand and make some sense of what's going on.
And after all, it is a movie and its purpose-aside from raising some questions- is that of entertaining the viewer in some way shape or form, isn't it?

I love Miike. Visitor Q, Gozu, Fudoh, Audition, Dead Or Alive, Ichi... Although his movies aren't wtf as a whole, this man has provided some great cinematic wtf memories. The more recent ones where he has the Japanese speaking Engrish with thick accents aren't as good. The dialogue gets distracting.

By the way,this thread is golden. I have watched some of the recommendations here, many of them are great. Audition had me on the edge of my seat yelling at my computer monitor! (Yes, the ending is fucked up)

Not a mindfuck movie per se, but I watched Vincent Price's House of Wax and it was enjoyable. Mainly watched it for the lulz, and for Will Bozarth Going to watch Eraserhead again soon.
