PRIMAL FEAR wasn't even close to being touched. The energy from them and the crowd was unmatched by anyone else. AFTER FOREVER, though is a distant second. PRIMAL FEAR should headline the Showcase next year. They could easily headline the big show someday, too.

I thought Glenn said that After Forever and Primal Fear were co-headlining Saturday night and their sets were both 90 minutes long. One band had to go on first since they can't play simultaneously, and that just so happened to be Primal Fear. I voted PF in the poll but all bands Saturday impressed me greatly.

This thread voting is crazy .... Firewind over Threshold ?? .... surely you jest. Firewind was good, but Threshold had an elite performance by a frontman. My vote for the top spot goes to Primal Fear, followed closely by Threshold, then Firewind, then #4 After Forever.

Floor definately floored me, but PF took the show on Saturday night.

Firewind was awesome as well. I still wish Apollo was able to be there but Henning did a good job. Stephen Frederick has a good voice, but his on stage show was ...odd.

Threshold was the surprise, but not as good as the other three.

Even though I was there for Threshold I think I'm switching my vote for After Forever, that kicked so damn much ass!

+1

I like the sound of the newer stuff. There's much less of the operatic vocals. It's a shame some people only watched the beginning or end of their set, and missed her vocals on the newer stuff. I can't wait to spin the new disc.

Having said that, IMO, each band on Saturday was incredible. I think each of them could have won this against some past PP lineups. It was phenomenal.

After Forever! Their performance was one of the major highlights – and THE biggest surprise of the festival for me.

I gave one CD a cursory listen before the festival, but I didn’t give it much of a chance, since I’m generally not a fan of bands that include “harsh” vocals. However, this was my reaction to seeing / hearing Floor’s live performance:

:OMG: :OMG: :OMG:

She may well be the best “frontperson” (male OR female) that I’ve ever seen live. I’m taking another listen to “Invisible Circles” as I type this…and will definitely be picking up more releases from After Forever.

PF 11/10
Firewind 10.5/10
AF 10/10
Threshold 9.95/10

This is without a doubt my favorite single night of PPUSA EVER! Glenn and the staff have really outdone themselves this time. Hail!

QFT! After Forever were a perfect 10! PF were out of this world! Threshold brought their "A Game"! But I had to give it to Firewind since the consensus is that they were great but most will vote for another band. They are some of the nicest guys, and Gus G is a god on guitar :notworthy

Primal Fear - 1
Firewind - 2
Threshold - 3
After Forever - 4
All Star Jam - 5

Primal was the ultimate for me that evening.

If After Forever didn't do any growling, I'd have put them at number two :)

Firewind's musicians impressed me much like Redemption's did. While I appreciated the revolving stand-in singers somewhat, I would have been happy to have heard 5 long intense instrumentals from Firewind.. they were just that good.

Primal Fear was so good but After Forever just BLEW the night away!
Floor is TOO good. Her and Stian were THE BEST singers this time.
Well and the entire band is very energetic and 100% professional.
They were just .. augh.. fantastic!! Handled everything well.
Best band of the night - IMO!!

EDIT:
By the way I don't count Firewind because I missed them~ :(

I'd say Threshold for myself but from the seats Primal Fear had the best reaction of Saturday night.

Primal Fear just totally kicked my ass, and I hardly knew any of their stuff.....awesome! Bring 'em back to headline Thursday night next year... Tough to rank the rest because they are so different, but each band really played great sets.

After Forever was my fave w/PF a very close second. Reason being: I've seen PF before and knew they will put on a KILLER show that would not disappoint. I didn't have nearly as big expectations for After Forever but they came to play proving to be a stellar live band far beyond what I'd thought they'd be! For those of you putting Threshold at the top must've not been at PPIII. This year's performance was OK but didn't come anywhere close to the show they put on in '02.
