Best priest album

British Steel IMO.
Priest did a lot of great albums, it is hard to judge which is best .... but easy to tell which is worst: Turbo. Starting with the shitty cover ...

Well, I think Jugulator was probably worse. Actually Demolition too. It wasn't really Owens fault either, as the live album with him is quite good. It was Tipton's writing. Too much Korn in his diet, methinks.

Absolutely right. But for the record the worst of the worst is "Demolition", now if we put Owens era aside the worst IMO is "Point Of Entry", "Turbo" is way more solid.

well their best albums have already been listed but one that is oft overlooked but damn fine is Ram it Down, a couple of fillers in there but overall its awesome!

5. "Sad Wings of Destiny" - just for "Victims of Change" alone!
4. "Sin After Sin" - "Starbreaker" yeah!
3. "Hell Bent for Leather" - title track, "Green Manalishi", "Delivering the Goods"
2. "British Steel" - "Metal Gods", "Steeler", "The Rage", "Grinder"
1. "Screaming for Vengeance" - The whole damn album rocks!

Blood red skies is very good indeed
yep, other huge highlights are the title track, Come And Get It, Hard as Iron and the straight up fist banger Heavy Metal. The whole band is shredding even the bass is pumping, Tipton and Halfords solo duel in Ram it Down is phenomenal and Rob Halfords voice is in fine form on this album - he is hitting some mighty high notes. For some reason the album has been largely forgotten and can be found in cheap bins all round the world, it holds some great heavy metal tunes and you can see the genesis of Painkiller.

It's hard to say. Each one is so different from the other. I think it just depends on what kind of mood I'm in. But I have to say that I can listen to British Steel moreso on a regular basis compared to a lot of the others. It also sounds like it was made more for the World market, rather than just the American market. It appeals to everyone, everywhere. Listening to the earlier releases still takes some work because of the bluesy feel to them. And I prefer the more flat-out approach. But again, I have to be in a certain mood. And most of the albums I can't get through entirely either.....just too much variety for me. But I honestly respect everything they have released. I just can't be a 'fanboy' and say "I absolutely love everything all the time." Because I don't.

I like Bullet Train off of Jugulator its the most "Priest" Song they wrote for Owens .... But my favorite is 98' Live Meltdown! its the album that got me into Priest and even as I watched JP with Halford I missed Ripper :D

Agree with J-Dubya, Hell Bent/Killing Machine is it for me. Grew up with that and UFO's Obsession through high school and remember both albums pretty much note for note and never get bored with it.

Close second and third are British Steel and SFV.

I'd throw in Unleashed in the East too, but only with the extra bonus tracks that the Remastered version offers.
