2001 comes to mind, mostly because I know two of my favorites are from that year. Hard to remember years for me except for on my favorite albums.

I vote for the early to mid-90s period just for the great selection of black metal it produced. Some good death metal, too.

detah metal = end of the 80's and the 1st mid of the 90's

Yes! It's almost impossible for me to single out one year. Still, I suppose it would be '86, as that would also include many shows/tours (VoiVod, Kreator, Slayer, Nuclear Assault, Carnivore, Exodus, etc.) and shit like that as well. Those were great times for metal...
