I am not espousing the belief that all music needs to be serious or intellectual or thoughtful, I am more against the current movement in music towards songs that are essentially factory produced, with a hook being the only thing intended. That and I hate the hip hop lifestyle. There is no doubt that I have hip hop on my computer and in my music collection, something The Dope loathes. I more dislike the lifestyle it pushes, all flash and no depth. I hate the bling-wearing-ho-playing-Bentley-driving-crew-running-gun-toting-clothing-line-pushing-marketableness of it all. I'm simply saying it used to be about making music, either meaningful or fun or remarkably sometimes even both, having a good time doing it, and expressing yourself in an artful way. This is not to say all commercialism is bad, it does sometimes introduce people to genres they would never discover, its just bad when it becomes the only thing motivating the production of it.
