Beyond Priest and Maiden

Pantera or VH?!
I have said this before, I favor the Hagar era VH.
So if you mean Pantera vs. Van Hagar vs. Roth Era VH,
I would go with Van Hagar. Like them or not. It looks like they will get back together with Sammy. Pantera's Cowboys & Vulgar records were great. Far Beyond, was a turd. I'm Broken was a great track & the Sabbath cover was cool.

I didn't hear any NUMETAL in there either, but you must admit that record sucked ass!

ok so maybe it was just me who heard that But they did admit while recording GHUA that they were going for a slipknot sound, last I knew Shitknot=numetal
after giving it a fair chance there are some really good songs on it Exile tears my face off

In my opinion, Cinderella was the greatest hair band ever. Tom K.'s voice was excellent for the more bluesy style they adopted on Long Cold Winter and beyond. He raked every last note out of every word of every song he sang. How many "hair bands" had a singer as good as him? Easilly one of the most UNDERRATED rock bands in recent history. And yes, Dio kicks Ozzy's ass. Always has, always will.

Cinderella are a great band. It's too bad they have lost any chance of getting any attention at this point. I saw 'em in '86 opening for DLR, they played every track off the Night Songs record. Basically, stole the show.
They had a harder edge than the bands they were lumped together with.
I mean Night Songs had a hard rock/AC/DC thing goin'. An they grew with every record. I wish they'd get something out. I picked up their Live record when it can out a few years ago. It's great.

Some of the guitar tones?

I think it was the use of the word Fuck on songs such as Exile .... Slayer fans will know that Slayer never had to resort to using the "F"word every other word That is where the numetalisms come from at least in my opinion :p which doesnt mean much but I'm twisted

I've always picked Maiden over Priest, because Maiden pwn everything, ever... Except maybe King Crimson, even though Priest are also amazing, I always liked Maiden better.

I'm always going back and forth between Tool and Opeth, thought 99% of people here would say Opeth pwnzz Tool, I can't really decide one over the other, same with Yes and ELP... though I lean more towards Yes most of the time.

As for the other ones, Slayer over Metallica, Dio and Ozzy... well, dont know about that one either, Ramones over Sex Pistols, Warrant over Poison, and Iced Earth over Sabotage.

Metallica, they were my first intoduction to metal
Dio, saw him on Uranium last week and he is still going strong
Maiden, love the lyrics

Ramones forever. I don't think anyone has a catalog as extensive as theirs
Testament, just because
Anthrax, the speed, the heavieness, the humor, gotta love it

I think Mark Slaughter can handle Keifer, though in a totally different style. Having said that, Slaughter never had the songwriting or guitar playing Cinderella did. Sometimes people forget Cinderella had TWO bad-ass guitar players in Lebar and Keifer. Though they weren't the technical sort of players like Lynch etc. they still were great at their style.

I agree with you as far as vocal power goes, but I just can't stomach Slaughter. Mark's voice is a little too much for me. By the way, welcome back Bryant.

how about cannibal corpse vs morbid angel, two of death metals pioneers, i think they both had very very good runs for a long time, but their latest material doesnt measure up with their old stuff, while it is still somewhat good, it just cant match the classic cds.

If I think back to when I was in High School, two of my favorite bands were Dio and Accept. There is no way I could pick between those two.

If you waon't to get "real" oldschool it's Beatles vs. Rolling Stones and the Beatles kills the Stones. I don't like that She loves you yeah yeah stuff, but when the Beatles "discovered" LSD and recorded stuff like Sgt. Peppers, Magical Mystery Tour, The White album etc. that was the shit. No one touched that until Floyd came along. I still listen to some of that stuff on ocasion.

Bryant

I saw Dio with Accept opening up.... stop drooling Bryant... :) Or did you see that tour also?

I'm more of a Stones man. About 3 or 4 years ago for some reason I started getting into them, mainly the late 60's early 70's stuff. The Beatles don't do anything for me.

I always saw Cinderella as more of a straight rock n roll band.... and a frickin' great one at that! They got lumped in there with the hair bands because..... well because they LOOKED like a hair band, but they were more rockin' then glam. Man, do you remember the bass players hair?!!!!! He may get my vote for coolest hair metal doo of all time.

How about this one...
Ramones VS. Sex Pistols?

RAMONES hands down!!!! No one can write a hook like those guys. Every had a Ramones song repeating over and over in you head for days and days? If you have not then you're missing out on one of the greatest little things life has to offer. :)

Eric Brittingham. Yeah, he had a wild doo. I used to think it was so cool the way he spun his bass around his neck by the strap...

WOW! i cant believe you all said dio > ozzy ...

dio doesnt even rate a mention in my books. but the first time i was reading through these forums, there was a fair bit of ozzy bashing, so i guess i shouldnt be suprised.
