Black Metal CD reccommendations

 one of my all–time favourite forms of music and everyone seems to have mentioned all my picks!

let me mention algaion’s oimai algeiou and 1349’s stupendous hellfire album. hey, why not throw in a little lord belial too? unholy crusade always gets my blood racing, as does impaled nazarene’s ugra karma masterpiece.

enjoy!

If you want straight black metal go for Darkthrone, Mayhem and Immortal.

If you want more complex stuff try Arcturus, Borknagar, and Dimmu Borgir.

I wouldn't consider them either important or amazing, though I do enjoy them.

... are you sure you've listened to it then? haha. Dead As Dreams is so grandiose, i've never heard any black metal that compares. Of everything released since 2000, it's i think by far the most interesting and important album in BM. It seems to have spawned a whole legion of quality american BM bands, ie xasthur and leviathan.

I hardly even consider Weakling black metal. They've got too much going on. And they're NOT comparable with Xasthur and Leviathan, who are for the most part, average.

I agree, except for the first part, which doesn't make sense.

I've heard 'In the Nightside Eclipse' a few times. Dimmu Borgir sound like them. I would not say it's a bad album but not great either.

I have heard acouple songs from the following albums not caring for them. All of it sounds like dimmu borgir to me.

WAY OFF! Sorry but ITNE does not sound like Dimmu. Different keyboard style, different production, different sounding vocals, different guitar style, just different.

Start with quite possibly the two best metal albums ever made:
Mercyful Fate- Melissa
Mercyful Fate- Don't Break the Oath

Best black metal of the 80's hands down.
