Black Metal guitar

Ps:TGS how do you usually record it?

Depends on the situation... I don't do things "usually", I try out whatever I think best suits the style of the particular band.
One thing that has worked for me many times though is to record two guitars with the "regular" amp distortion so to speak, and two with a very dirty sound (I have a Digitech 2101 that I use for this purpose now and then), really dirty and disgusting sound. This can be heard on the latest Adorior album for example, which I urge you to check out also for being a bloody great album music-wise.

Not having an "usually" setup can be quite mind-opener for new approaches. Do you have a link or something to that Adorior sound? Give me your opinion about those tunes: http://www.myspace.com/eternalmalediction, unfortunally the guy who uploaded the songs did with a poor quality mp3. But you can have an idea.

BTW what your signal chain for your "regular" amp dist?

Are you from Portugal? We can talk in portuguese by email then.
És de Portugal? Podemos falar em português por email então.

It depends. On the production I'm working with now for example, it's two guitars with TS9->Engl Fireball->1960BX->SM57->TLAudio 5001->Focusrite Red EQ (just to notch out an annoying freq a few dB). I usually don't use EQ in the chain, but it depends. The other two guitars are the same but with 5150 instead of Fireball.

I listened to the song, it sounds cool. Very clear. Perhaps a bit too clear though, and dry. I usually end up using more reverbs on the drums than anyone here would dare to I guess...

Yeah, you can hear a clip of Adorior here:
http://tore.stjerna.org/studio/mp3/adorior.mp3

It's from December 2004. If I did it today I'd probably do it a bit differently. Like the snare sound for example... But I'm still satisfied, as is the band (and the label, most important part, haha).

At that time I had only those crappy digidesign plug-ins that came with PT 6.4 , so that reverb sounded almost like white noise to me! And I wanted something more upfront also.

Adorior sounds great. Although I don´t like the vocal opproach to it, kind reminds of Venom and old Kreator. But it does sounds fantastic. The problem is that in here almost nobody can have acess to the kind of equipment I believe you used to record. Give me the bands contact, I would like to buy a cd. :kickass:

Thanks.

Outro brasileiro! Dei uma ouvida no Eternal Malediction, já tinha ouvido falar, muito foda! O pessoal daqui é bem prego com relação a Black Metal, mas dá para aprender muito com esse fórum. :)

What cab and mic will you use?

It's a woman singing, actually. *hehe*
You can get the cd from our distro if you want actually, check it out at www.hiberica.com

BTW, you asked about portugal, I forgot to answer that one. I live in portugal but I'm swedish. I don't speak portuguese yet, but I'm trying to learn. It's slow though, the difference between swedish and portuguese is huge, so it takes forever for me to grasp the system in your stupid language. :p

I´ll definetely get Adorior album.
Actually I live in Brazil, not Portugal but the language is pretty much the same. If you are swedish and are living in Portugal it means there´s room for one person in Sweden, right? Maybe I´ll fill that void... hehehe

Do you play in Adorior? What mic you used in those vocals?
