This is great stuff - thanks to all who went to the time to help me out with their recommendations. Here is my first order I am about to place:

FALKENBACH - magni blandinn ok megintiri
EMPEROR - In the nightside eclipse
BATHORY - Twilight of the Gods
MITHOTYN - Gathered around the Oakened Tab

Nobody (inlcuding blackmetal.com) had Ensiferum or Suidakra...oh well, maybe next time....

I definitely will - thanks again for all your help guys. This thread is something I will refer back to often, because it contains a lot of useful information on the subject matter.

I split the order between The End (Omega) and Blackmetal.com...just waiting for delivery now...can't wait.

One more question though (for those who don't mind!) - when the concept of viking metal evolved, how did it maintain a 'black' theme? Could it be geographically based - just because that was the common underground theme at the time from Scandinavia?

Alternatively, is the story of how black and viking metal evolved documented anywhere?
