I know I will be there come hell or high water!!! Others that have told me are coming are Mr. Zod himself and shaq.

Who else is coming to see the Bards? This is gonna be my last show of the year... and quite possibly the best!

I don't know how big the venue is, but I got an email this morning with the ticketsales and it looks VERY good. I would suggest people who want to catch BG on this tour to go get their tickets soon ...

The capacity for the venue is 2100. It's hands down the best venue to watch a show in Manhattan, and that says a lot.

Place is just amazing. I can't wait to hear the crowd singing along.

I'm jealous. I'll be at the Jaxx show, which will probably be wall to wall bodies, which means I'm gonna get in early and run to the stage so I can throw my panties directly at Hansi.

I don't have a ticket yet but I plan on being there (point of interest, Overkill is at Starland the same night dang it)

Though I disagree with it being the best place in Manhattan to see shows. I think it leaves alot to be desired. The stage is low and small, it faces the narrow part of the club not the length, and the sound mix always is a disappointment.

I would say the Gramercy and the Irving Plaza are far better venues. Better stages, better sound. Better setup overall.

I disagree that the Gramercy is better than the Nokia. (Can't call it BB, yet. That name change is such a disapointment. I'll go by the addy.) The Gramercy is very narrow and unless you get there early, you get stuck in the rear unable to see anything (short people that is). Also I don't like those scuzzy, steeply vertical seats in the rear. The seating area at 1515 Broadway are much nicer if you choose (or have) to sit, and you can't beat the concourse there for socializing. I've heard the sound at both ends of the spectrum in both venues. I prefer the layout of Irving Plaza, but I've been disappointed with the sound there more than the other two. Guess it's just a matter of personal preference.

From a photography point of view, the stage at 1515 Broadway works much better. I've never had any trouble seeing the bands there even from the rear.

I'll be missing both shows as I will be in San Diego. Boooo. Glad to be going to Cally; sad I'm missing both shows.

Capacity - Nokia wins.
Sound - Nokia wins *by far*.
Appearance/Looks - Nokia wins.
View of the Stage - Nokia wins.
Stage size - Nokia wins.
Backstage - Nokia *destroys*.

I honestly don't even see it as a fair comparison.

We'll miss you there. While in Cali, go see Drew.

This pisses me off. We get so few quality Metal shows, especially on Saturday nights. I can't believe we have this kind of overlap.

While I would agree that the stage setup at the Nokia is a bit odd, it doesn't impact my enjoyment of the shows. Personally, I think they have the best sound of any venue. But I also enjoy the quality of the club. Conversely, the Gramercy is a hole.

Boo indeed.

Never been to Nokia but the sound for Within Temptation at Gramercy was awful. It's like the speaker system wasn't capable of doing her higher vocal ranges. I started out about 20 ft from the stage and because I forgot my earplugs moved all the way to the back two songs in since it was giving me such a bad headache. I've never had that problem before. Had no problems two nights later at the Highline for Epica right at the stage still without my earplugs.
I'd love to be at this show but we were going to go to MA for Epica instead as Worcester is a far easier/cheaper trip. Although Brian was kind of iffy on whether he'd go. I said I'd be going to NY for Epica on Fri (despite it being at the Gramercy) and BG on Sat if he backed out. Unfortunately my back decided it didn't like me this week and I can barely move so it's looking like my need to decide between the two shows is unnecessary.

Please disregard the above statement. For some reason I thought the show was at BB Kings, not the Nokia Theater.

Yeah the Nokia is probably the best place to see a show. Certainly one of the better. Agreed.

Ah! Now I totally understand what you were saying. B.B.Kings is everything you said.

Actually I would say Roseland is the best venue...but you never really see shows there because metal bands can't fill the place.

:D:grin::tickled:

Personally I think Gramercy is an awful venue with some of the worst sound imaginable. The combination of being a long, narrow corridor with an outrageously-high ceiling makes it awful to mix in and I've only heard it done right once.

Irving is decent but the place itself is a dump.

Dump?? I loved it... I've been there 3 times and in all 3 the sound was really good... I like the place a lot.

I didn't say the sound was bad, just that the venue is a dump. It's dirty (even by venue standards) and has plumbing problems (ask anyone who was at one of the shows earlier this year where a pipe burst and emptied a flood of dirty waste water on the heads of the balcony level audience).

The staff is extremely rude/aggressive to its patrons (same with Gramercy...oh and they're both owned by Live Nation!) and the shows are rarely ever on schedule. I hear nothing about complaints about Irving from people who've played there and it's been practically bankrupt/on-the-verge-of-closing for years now.
