Blind Guardian in New York City Sat. 11/20 - Anyone coming?

I didn't say the sound was bad, just that the venue is a dump. It's dirty (even by venue standards) and has plumbing problems (ask anyone who was at one of the shows earlier this year where a pipe burst and emptied a flood of dirty waste water on the heads of the balcony level audience).

The staff is extremely rude/aggressive to its patrons (same with Gramercy...oh and they're both owned by Live Nation!) and the shows are rarely ever on schedule. I hear nothing about complaints about Irving from people who've played there and it's been practically bankrupt/on-the-verge-of-closing for years now.

I have to agree with on on all counts. The only thing good about Irving is that spacious layout for a venue of that capacity. If they open the balcony and you get to go upstairs, the sound is pretty good up there and it's "cleaner".

I also agree with everything you said about the Gramercy. Really hate that place unless I've been graced with a VIP viewing pass, which makes it only marginally better.

SO, how was the BG show??

It was great. Nice mix of old and new songs, good crowd, great sound as always (though Hansy could have been slightly louder IMO).

Blind Guardian was great. The setlist was friggin' amazing and the band was on fire!! Hansi is sounding great!! If you have a chance, go check them out.

I didn't care to see Holy Grail. Don't like the band. Walked in to check out a half a song, and the only thing I noticed was how bad the music was and how much their bassist looks like a mixture of Derek Smalls, Freddie Mercury and any 70s porn star.

Seven Kingdoms put on a really tight set. The band sounded real good. Sabrina has an incredible voice, it's hard to believe all of that comes out of that short little blondie on stage. Highlights are definitely her and Camden. By the way, I also must add it was awesome finally meeting him - class act guy. You boys (and girl) deserve the best and you'll go far!
