Blind Guardian

I'm not a huge fan, per se, but I do like 'em enough. I see they are coming to San Francisco in November....I'm gonna go. Sometimes I like a good overblown power metal show. Anyway, they are doing a pretty thorough US tour, for any fans here who might care.

September 5.
And 4 days earlier in Europe.

I'll try to catch them on the forthcoming tour, especially because of Astral Doors opening :headbang:

As much as I'm a big BG fan (I basically love everything they put out), Hansi has never been a true frontman (hey, he used to play bass :D) and that disappoints me every time I see them.
Maybe things will improve on this tour, I hope so.

I haven't seen BG live myself, but on the DVD he doesn't really move around at all and keeps on doing those Jesus poses. The beer gut doesn't help either.
He looks kinda out of place there in front of that huge audience.

I wouldn't mind to see them live. I wish they play PP again.

That's right, Hansi doesn't really know what to do when he's not singing.

Still, at times he does a pretty funny dance in circle around the mic :D

I think the new album is good. There's a lot of points I could address but let's just say that it's very complex, yet groovy album. If you like Fly and Another Stranger Me there's a strong chance you'll enjoy the entire album. It is a bit overwhelming at first listens, but in a good way. Very guitar-intense material, lots of those Olbrich trademark leads going on all around, all the time, it's great. My fave track atm is probably Otherland with its insanely catchy chorus. "You're part of the game, you're slave to the grind, oblivion"

I surely wasn't disappointed.:kickass:

I already ordered my copy and it's on the way. Hope to have it before I leave for PPVII:headbang:

I've been listening for a few days now, and I think it's fantastic. Which is saying something, because I'm not the hugest fan, generally speaking. I think it's a great album. Have listened to it at least 6 or 7 times in a few days.

fuckin favorite band w/ maiden. those 2 own my soul. cant wait for the new album, i LOVE skalds and shadows. Another Stranger Me and Fly sound pretty cool, i am hoping though the rest of the album is a bit stronger.

The rest of it is more in the "classic," Blind Guardian range, I'd say....you'll like it No-Mercy. I'm pretty sure of that.

Ive got every BG accept for one and I cant wait for this one either. ANATO was a little much for my simplistic brain to handle but it didnt make me lose any interest in them at all.

The only problem I had ANATO was the top-heavy production (too much emphasis on vocals). It sounded amazing when the vocals did their epic thing, but during the instrumental parts it sounded too low. Then, when I turned it up, the vocals would be too fucking loud. Oh well, a top-notch album nonetheless.
