Blood Tsunami - Demo 2005
Self-released - 2005
By Philip Whitehouse

Another serving of frantic 80s-styled thrash metal from Norwegian quartet Blood Tsumani, now bolstered with a line-up change that sees ex-Emperor drummer Faust taking on the skinbashing duties and former lead guitarist Riff Randall departing to be replaced by Dor Amazon.

The result of these changes seems to have been an overall lift in the level of technicality and songwriting ability on display within the five tracks making up this demo when compared to their 2004 effort - there are some excellent moment of guitar interplay with some cracking Megadeth-esque harmonies and lead breaks, while Faust's ability behind the drumkit is put to great use on the breakneck rhythms driving the songs. Pete Evil's black metal-esque screeches add further aggression to an already seething cauldron of spite also.

Hopefully, someone's going to get round to giving these guys a record deal soon, since thrash this vital and visceral is a commodity that's hard to come by in recent times, and if the level of progression we've seen between last year and today continues for the next release, we could have the next great thrash band on our hands.
