Bloodbath gear

I want to say FUCKING AWESOME tone, so yeah, +1 to a great desire to know! :D Does NOT sound like an Engl to me though, way too crunchy, though maybe a Fireball...

They have said that they always used the same gear, the classic Entombed rig:

Peavey Bandit 60, or Marshall tube amp of some sort
Boss HM-2
Shure SM58

And all knobs to full, for the original sound. Bloodbath has tweaked the knobs more though. Resurrection Through Carnage only used the Boss HM-2 pedal direct in, no amps at all! Here's what Anders Nyström says: http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/4073981-post8.html

They probably used a Boss HM-2 at some point.

AKA every album ;)

Damn, are you sure Tornio? The sound has been SO different from album to album - I find it genuinely unlistenable on "Resurrection," "Nightmares" just sounds like any other Tagtgren tone, and "Fathomless" is just sooooooooo middy and crunchy, I love it

I agree on all points,

Also, it's cool how quiet the mastering on this album is, noticeably more so than pretty much every other album I've been regularly listening to recently

Nightmares Made Flesh according to Dan Swanö:

"The sound was created using a BOSS HM-2 into a Marshall DSL50 50W head and a 4X12" Marshall cabinet. Jens miked it with a bunch of different mikes. SM57, Royer ribbon and AKG 414, might have been a MD421 there too, or a U87..don´t remember. he blended all those onto one track and tracked that."

Ressurection:

RTC was a bit weirder. I used a HM-2 into a Digitech GNX2 preamp. I used the Marshall-amp and Speakeremulation. Later on I used the Free Filter plug-in to "rip" the guitartone EQ from Left Hand Path (using the Intro from "Drowned") and applied that to my own "try". It turned out really broken and like a chainsaw ear fuck!!! Just the way I wanted it!!

I for one fucking love the Ressurection sound. So damn grainy! And yeah, the Fathomless is damn nice aswell, but I have little clue as to what it is

I went through my old shit and found I actually have a Japan HM-2. I tried plugging in direct and it buzzed pretty damn loud even with the gain on 0, and I couldn't get anything decent out of it......is it possible that a boss pedal is broke? I thought these were like tanks. It is way to old and been to long since I used it to remember what it is supposed to sound like.
