Bloodbath is so awesome

I recommend it. It's great to hear Mike's vocals again, even though I love Tatgren as well. "Eaten" was awesome on Nightmares.

Is or are.

????

I would say "is" because we're talking about a single group, Bloodbath, and groups are singular. To use "are", we would say "the guys in Bloodbath are...".

In Italian it's always plural, however. In fact, they must put a definite article before the group every time, which translated is like "The Bloodbath" or "The Metallica". I Bloodbath and gli Skylab or gli Anathema are the articles used. "Gli" is used for words beginning with an "s" other than "st" and before vowels. "St" words then use "Lo".

Fuckin' Italian lesson for the day. I forget the point of all this now, :loco:.

Derek, I see you're learning Czech...is it similar?

Ok i got The Fathomless Mastery and its pretty damn sexy shit! Its a helluvalot better than Nightmares Made Flesh! Good stuff!

You really didn't like Nightmares? I thought it was a great album with great riffs. Tatgren has a great voice and was a good choice to replace Mike, imo.

I really love Eaten and Blood Vortex.

Czech has no articles, only a few demonstrative pronouns, but they're not used in the same way. The result is that in Czech context is everything, or you need to explain exactly which/what thing you're talking about.

That said, when Czechs speak English they overcompensate by throwing articles in everywhere. For example (to stay topical): "I saw the Bloodbath in the Prague yesterday. They are the good band".

I always use "are" when referring to a band, as a band is a group of people, as in "Bloodbath are awesome" compared to "Kanye West is a fag"

See I'd rather use "is" because saying "are" implies that each individual member is awesome, when that may not necessarily be the case, but together, combined with all the other studio people, like producer and mixer, et al, whom result in making their music in recorded form, they result in awesome. Because really that's all that matters, sounds resulting under a particular moniker, to which is being referred.

And your example fails because it would be impossible to say "Bloodbath is a fag" because the fag would have to refer to the sexuality of the members themselves, completely independent of the band, requiring you to use "is" or "are" depending on whether it is the group or an individual.
