Bogner Ubershall

That's an Uberschall? I really dig that tone, but i thought it was mesa for some reason

I posted a thread on oh sleeper a while back and someone weighed in who talked to Andreas Magnusson. Apparently When I am God is a bogner, but the newer one is a 5150 i *think*. I can't remember. Regardless, I love When I am God. Great songwriting and great tone IMO. Even if the snare is a bit overbearing. :loco:

All the guitars on my soon to be released album were done with my uber. Got 2 songs on the myspace, but it's myspace so sounds like shit anyway. I'll see about getting a better quality sample up somewhere.

which Über is it?
if it's the Rev2 (green) you just have to drop KT88 in it and it's the best metal amp ever!

here are some examples:

it's so fucking big and 3d sounding...just fucking massive...
with KT88 it's still really tight and the mids on it are extremely usable....
you won't regret it!

the Rev blue is supposed to sound a bit less 3d and not as big but more defined in the lows with a bit more of a marshally bite in the high mids....can't say much about that one though.

I'd love to get a second Rev2 for live....my other guitarist will now sell his Recto and 5150 after he heard my Über....he said he HAS TO get one.
it's the biggest sounding amp on the planet and with =C= it records so nicely...can be everything from big and smooth to agressive and biting.

Massive sounds Lasse!

Did you ever try the new Überschall Twin Jet? It has KT88s by default and two gain channels. I wonder how it compares to the rev blue models.....

Weird, I thought they used a snare for guitar amps. That's the only logical reason for the snare to be so loud in that mix, right?

at first i was like :Smug:, but then i was like :lol::lol:

it amazes me that not only did the final version have such a loud ass snare, but it was approved by the band, label, and (possibly) management before being sent off for mastering.

btw, that is the loudest cd i currently own. Not sure how they managed that, although maybe it's from the completely lack of bass

that doesn't sound like anything like my 5150 haha

After hearing just about everything live, the Uberschall is still one of the top amps I have ever heard live.

+1

I was lucky enough to use one every night during a three week tour a few years ago and I have to say that the Uber's tone is super consistent...more than any other amp I've used / toured with. AND it sounded great in any room.

As for recording, it kills for higher gain / lead stuff. It stays pretty focused and tight. Sounds great clean, especially with some delay. I don't really have anything bad to say about it other than one of the power tube sockets going bad...but shit happens.

Haven't listened to the Architects' "Hollow Crown"? :loco:

Jval talked to Andreas about it:
Andreas Magnusson produced / mix. I always bug him online with a bunch of questions, nice guy..
He did the new album "Son of the Morning" as well, which I think is superior in all ways. From what I remember, guitar wise I think he said the old record was an Uberschall and the new one is a 6505. He reamps a lot, and mixes ITB with occasional outboard on the mix bus.

It sounds amazing and HUGE.

Cleans suffer like crazy though; no dedicated clean channel, somewhat like a 5150.

???

The clean on the 5150 isn't great and it starts distorting early.
the clean on the Über is as clean as it gets....it's not as warm as a Fender or anythin, but it's the cleanest channel an amp can have...you need emgs and have to crank every single control to get a tiny bit of breakup on it...
if any amp has a dedicated clean channel it's the Über!

I admit it's not the greatest sounding clean (taste!), but it's definitely clean clean....very sparkly, chimey and a bit one the modern/sterile side.

EDIT: ah, misread your post, you were talking about the twin jet, I thought you were talking about the regular models

Dude, you must have sprinkled some sex dust on that amp because I could never get it to sound like anything but crap when I used the clean channel, lol.....total user fail I'm sure....
