I didn't say they were on the same level song wise. I said they both are just as good as one an other on many different levels and in their own ways.

For what it's worth, I've never been much of a Van Halen fan - personally, if it wasn't for David Lee Roth there would be very little reason at all for me to listen to them. And I lost interest in Bon Jovi after Keep the Faith. Not sure why.

Now Tesla, there's a rockin' band.

I love Bon Jovi and think they have killer songs, but I'm more of a Van Halen fan.

Can't explain why really... just prefer the melodies and guitarwork I guess.

I have to say, the only downside to Bon Jovis greatness is the way they have held back the greatest bass player, nay all round human being, of all time.

The almighty Hugh McDonald. Held back for far too long, this man will rise, pheonix like, from the ashes and be given his due as the true driving force behind not only Bon Jovi, but all music since the beginning of time. All hail Hughey. Respect.
