I will never understand this kind of aesthetic choice for guitars. They sound thin as fuck, this could sound better with just normal sounding guitars edited to a human and playable level !

Amen, it always bugs me when you're not allowed to have an opinion without someone saying: "well why don't you do better then"

As much as I really dislike how things sound solo'd, I'm amazed at how good it sounds in the full mix. Even though everything is pretty much edited and squashed to hell and back, but that doesn't really bother me. I think actually the bass sounds really good, except it's very unhuman nature.

Sturgis mixed this so I can all but guarantee the bass sound is with the UAD Nigel plugin.

Joey is awesome at what he does. If BoO didn't want the "signature unnatural sound" Joey does, they would have probably gone to someone else i think.. Its nice that we got some of his FX, that explosion FX when the guitars kicks in is awesome

Why would I be jealous of someone who chose to edit the life force out of every song they record?

I happen to like some variation in the way drums sound. I also like hearing all the normal decays on the guitar and bass.

Better is subjective.

I noticed the bass has almost no information 250-2k. Lots of major surgical cuts too, which are easier to make when the bass lines comprise of 1-2 notes on average lol. pretty cool anyways, simple for BOO but still has wicked energy.

He most likely just bounced everything with the batch export and left whatever was on the 2 buss on.
