Just got my hands on this but haven't listened to it yet. I like their last two albums alot but feel that Soul Temptation was their last masterpiece.

Well, I finally purchased Memorial Roots and have been spinning it the last few days. Overall, the disc is simply average compared to their other efforts. Soul Temptation and Metus Mortis being my favorites. Liquid Monster and Downburst were rehashed older material, but they were good. I think Andy sounds good on Memorial Roots, but the song writing seems average. Like a few others have said, the snare drum is annoying for sure. I hate to say it, but it wouldn't surprise me that Brainstorm doesn't have a lineup change or simply calls it a day in the near future.

I am a huge fan of Downburst the previous cd and when I heard Memorial Roots there was lots of WTFing happening. Very disappointed in MR.

Brainstorm has always been one of those bands on disc that is "almost there." There are three awesome songs to me on the disc, namely The Conjunction of 7 Planets, Cross the Line and Ahimsa. The others aren't bad but are just really average. They have the ability obviously, because those three songs kick my butt, but they haven't been able to string together enough of those killer songs on the same release for a long time.
