So I use an Emu 0404 for my recording needs at the moment but lately its been giving me some crap. Basicly there are two TRS/XLR inputs and the first one works just fine. The second one however has started getting seriously noisy all of a sudden. It makes a sound kind of like an amp with really old tubes, crackling away nefariously in the background. The noise gets louder as I turn up the preamp, so I figured that might be the source of my woes. Anyway, I was wandering if any of you guys have a better idea of where I should start looking for the fault, and if this is the sort of thing that I could easily repair myself. I'm pretty comfortable with a soldering iron, I just wouldnt know what to look for if I opened it up. Any help will be much appreciated, it sucks not being able to record in stereo :(

It seems that electronic keys are died - it`s common problem for E-Mu PCI interfaces, at least it is relatively frequent problem on E-Mu 1212(m).
Some guys just remove this broken keys and interface can work further.
Don`t know if it applicable to your situation.
