Brutal/Slam Death Metal

Ya, I'm gonna have to pick that up. New Septycal Gorge is fucking great; their best yet. The new Decaying Purity has what is likely to be the BEST brutal death art this year... Marco Hasmann is truly a genius... that's some Bosch level shit right there!

Other things that rule... new 7 H. Target is, of course, top notch. New Dirt (Rus) album is killer, as I predicted from their demo like 4 years ago.

soils of fate is really solid and the slam album i'm returning to most often since last year's necrambulant, expurgate and craniotomy releases. the new pathology did not stand out for me at all (and the drums seem programmed like on the last one, even though astor can obviously play for real). sorta losing interest in following this band at this stage.

the vomitous ep is cool and well-riffed, albeit short, and i just ordered slamophiliac, which certainly has it's heart in the right place. my highest hopes are still on the upcoming kraanium...

This is a serious album-of-the-year candidate for me. Amazing stuff in the vein of other great technical brutal death metal acts, such as Katalepsy (my favorite). Excellent technicality, slamming, and innovative chord-work. It has some Ulcerate-ish flavor sprinkled in with tiny doses to enhance the music and break up monotony found in other, lesser or average BDM fare. This soars above most of the rest. On top of that the production is FANTASTIC! Skull-crushing riffage abounds here and a distinctly hellish atmosphere pervades the album with the music itself. I give you:

I'm listening to that Disentomb right now and its fucking pummeling. Its got clear, tight, dark production and dudes vocals are not acquired. They're top tier, period.

Been absent a while, it's good to be back. Epicardiectomy was sick, Misery is a near perfect album. Only complaints are a lack of drum variation. If they had Defeated Sanity's drummer, they'd be unstoppable. I sure hope they come to the US next year.

Excoriation leaked pre-production track looks incredible, though I'm a little disappointed since I heard they use a pitch shifter. New Decaying Purity is fucking beast. The art for that and Excoriation are by Paolo Girardi and he is one of my favorite artists, easily. The new Iconic Vivisect was pretty incredible as well.

Art by Daemorph on the re-release or some shit. Definitely one of my favorite new artists. Acrania was decent if you don't mind a little deathcore influence. Cerebral Effusion and Gorgasm were definitely top albums for this year as well. The Cannibalistic Infancy, Mycardial Infarction, and Interminable Corruption split was pretty sick. CI is some insane Russian slam. Top notch stuff. Bleeding Corpse headed the Indonesian front this year. Parasitic Ejaculation sounds incredible so far.


Upcoming shit includes Internal Devour, Incinerate, Suppuration (who just signed to Gore House), Ingested, Sickening, Acranius (art also by Daemorph, and there's 2 tracks on youtube you guys should really hear), Womp Rat (which is a new project from Matt of Lividity and Roger of Mortician), a split from Traumatomy, Cerebral Paralysis, and Embryectomy (that's gonna be some mega guttural slamming goodness. Embryectomy are Greek and only have a promo so far but they're sick as hell), Parasitic Extirpation, and Indecent Excision. That's only a fraction of what's coming, but that should be a start of some good discussion for now.

Konni of Defeated Sanity joined a band called Revulsed and they put out an impressive promo track.

A couple more things. I won a signed copy of Infinite Defilement's reissue of Disgorging Humanity. There were 4 copies accidentally printed in magenta so he gave them away and I got one. I thought it was worth sharing.

Also, if you have never heard Corprophemia's Arrived in Pieces, you need to. It came out in 2007, but DAMN I love this raw blasty BDM stlye!!
