Building a 1x12 cab

I'm in the middle of building an oversized closed-back 1x12 cab, and I have some room to play with on the speaker baffle. The baffle itself is about 20" by 15" and I was thinking of offsetting the speaker so it is not mounted directly in the middle. What do you think the effect would be of mounting it in a corner as opposed to directly center?

Shouldn't make a difference in sound. This kind of thing is done in bass combos. But it will make the cab awkward to carry.
