Bush should be killed

Although I'll always support an active president in a time of "war," i must ask; Can you name one thing, just one thing, Bush has done in terms of domestic policy to make this a better country than it was when he became president?

Not a Bush fan myself, but that's easy. tax cuts, small though they were. (Larger couldn't get through the Senate anyway)

Yeah but have those tax cuts resulted in people spending $$$ and helping the budget crunch???? Every fucking state is in the red and Bush is clueless as to how to help.

I don't care what people decide to do with their money. The government cannot spend money any better than people themselves can.
As for states, it's their own fucking faults, esp. including Ohio. (BTW, how did you like the increased tax on tobacco?) Those states went on spending binges throughout the 90s when times were good, and now they're panicing. Now if you look at New Mexico, whose Republican governor vetoed a record number of bills during his time in office, their new Democratic governor is proposing 40% tax cuts.
Bush really can't "help" states without taking away more money for the people of the states. But why should the people of new Mexico or Georgia have to pay for Ohio or California's spending binges?

Are New Mexico and Georgia seperate from the Union now or something. Every state is in this together. A child who goes to well funded Ohio school may well wind up working a very important job in Georgia. A child who thru welfare and the help of the state of California has an opportunity to go to college, may well be the surgeon who saves the governor of New Mexico's life. That's the problem w/ conservativism at it's extreme, it's all me, me, me, fuck the other guys. We're one country, so we're in this together.

By the same token, a person from NM or GA may go to another state and help someone there.
NM and GA are still part of the Union, but their budgets are not.
The people of New Mexico and Georgia and any other state that excercised fiscal restraint forwent the benefits of excessive spending so they didn't have to pay for it and now you want them to pay for other people's spending binges. Let me make this simple for you. How about I go run up a credit card debt and tell you to pay for it?
I am not a conservative. I'm a liberal in the classical sense, as in one who believes in liberty. Yet I fail to see why it is immoral for me to desire something but moral for others to do so. Why is it immoral to keep something but moral to give it away? If it's immoral for me to keep what I produce, isn't it immoral for anyone else to keep it as well?
We are a Union, and that is why we have a federal government. Under the 10th amendment, those things that are not federal issues are left to the state, local, and individual level. If states have a hard time paying for their shit, they should either raise taxes, cut spending, or do both and stop expecting their neighbors to be FORCED to pay for it.

Justin, have you paid a dime of your college expenses???? Do you really realize how hard it is for some people. It's very easy to sit in you kosher dorm room that your mom is footing the bill for, but let me tell ya, I know a lot of people that are busting their ass, working two jobs to pay for college. They sure could use some of the $$$$ that people like you don't like to pay in taxes, because you feel those people aren't as good as you.

Ty, I hate to go into detail but you've left me no choice.
My father lost his job of 27 years from KMart the week before I started college. My mother graduated from college during my first semester and started teaching at a Catholic school the following school year. She also works as a seasonal employee in catering at the Columbus Zoo through the summer, on some weekends during school and even on some school nights. In addition to that, she occasionally helps out my neigbor, who is a realtor. My father worked 6 nights (from around 10 pm - 6 am) at a gas station while he set up his own small business, a gas station. He did not receive a dime in unemployment despite paying "into the system" since he was 14. My parents invested almost all of their life savings in the business, and it FAILED. He had worked at the store around 90 hours a week. My mother also put in a lot of time, especially when my father had to start cutting down on staff to cut expenses. So add another job to my mother's tally. I worked there some too. The business failed miserably and is shut down now while the banks and the lawyers sort out the mess. My father is almost 55 years-old now and is going to accept a job for under half of what he made at KMart. My grandfather is going to give my mother his old car when the lease on her car is up. I have a younger brother. As for me, my parents cut me off from paying my tuition after sophomore year when we cashed the last of the bonds my parents purchased when I was little. My mother said one of the most valuable lessons she learned from my father in raising a family was the importance of saving money.

Have I paid a dime? You bet your ass I have. In fact, I just charged $200 today. It's almost the middle of the semester and I am not done paying. I should be able to complete my payments next month. I've got a little over $300 in the checking account and $50 in my wallet, and that is it. I have other expenses on top of tuition. I'd like to go to grad school but it's definitely not in my cards right now.

In case you don't understand my point, it's this: don't patronize me. I realize a LOT of people have it worse than me. Still, I don't see the moral justification for plunder. I don't see the moral justification for allowing government to do what is plainly wrong when individuals do it. You can play cute little semantics games and call it "helping people out" or "paying one's fair share," but it all comes down to plunder, seizing something by force.
