Buying a pod

Hi there,

I've got a little cash to spend, and considering buying a Pod for jamming and ocassional recording. Basically something to keep the neighbours happy for those late night studio sessions, and also as an alternative to micing up shitty rigs I'm presented with.

While I understand the stigma attached to the die hard valve amp user, I'd really like to hear some constructive opinions on what would be the most useful to buy? Is it worth paying the extra for the XT models? Or can I achive the same tone using the Pod 2.0 for instance?

I'd of course be trying to achieve the most authentic tone possible that these things can produce. The band I'm currently recording is looking for a tone similiar to that of Parkway Drive and Killswitch. Im a complete newb when it comes to pods. I work in audio for TV post production, so the music crossover is more part time for the slow days, and a bit of a hobby.

Also anybody have any audio examples?

Thanks in advance..
