Hi
I'm building my own guitar cabinet and I wanna know how the wheels are usually fixed to the cabs.
I saw different cabinet pics from the inside, but I didn't see any bolt through the cabs that fix the wheels..
Anyone can explain me how these little whores are bolted? Any personal experiences? If you have/can take some photos, you're very welcome :)
Thank you

Take a look at the Mesa Boogie Track-Lok removable casters. been using them for years without a problem. I couldn't find a good shot of them fro the bottom of the cab on their site.

I don´t have some detailed advice or pictures either, but if you have the chance to build some removable ones you should go for that (so you are able to use it withouth wheels due to a whole different bass-attitude on most cabs in this case).
Or you take fixed ones and have to put your cab side-down on the stage if it sounds live better without the wheels.

For the removable kind, there is generally a plate that screws onto the cab and then the casters clip onto the plates. Or, they can be plates that have a hole and the caster pops into the hole (pop-in casters)...These kind require a hole be drilled into the cab for the shaft of the caster to fit in and the plate is affixed around that hole.

I just screw my casters straight into the cab itself..I always leave mine on it's wheels.

No at the moment I can't look into any cab :\
I have already bought 4 of these wheels:

My problem is: in the cab's front part there are a lot of wood frame (one for fix the baffle, one for fix the metal grill) so I have to drill the frames and I don't know if it's a good thing.
I don't know if you have understand my doubt/problem... :)

Though it might be expensive I can't say enough great things about the Boogie casters. To my ears my the bottom end on my cab always sounds tighter w/ the casters off and I still get the projection from the top 2 speakers. I'll sometimes lay my cab on its side, but really, these casters are like no other. This way you won't have to worry about drilling into your cab. Just flush mount them and you're ready. They aren't bolted internally. The plates are screwed into the wood on the bottom of the cab, after the tolex is applied. At least mine were not, IIRC. The MEsa may be different, as I never removed the plates, but on all the other cabs I've ever used, the casters or the plates for removable casters were just screwed into the wood on the bottom of the cab, through the tolex. The scres were nice wood screws.

Fuck my batteries are dead but anyhow here are how mine are attached:

Holes were drilled in the bottom of the cab all the way through the wood then these metal sleeves are put inside those and the bolts at drilled into that (hard to describe them I did look for an example online).

I am pretty sure they are standard on most amp handles so if you have an amp with a strap handle take off the handle and have a look for yourself.

Thank you guys... I post for you a scheme of my project (view from above):

In the front there are 2 frames (green): one for the baffle (red) and one for the metal grill (gray). As you can see, in this position it's difficult to drill a hole, because it can damage the frames..Same thing with the back panel's frame.
This is the reason because I ask you some cool advice or pics...unfortunally I have no opportunity to check a cab at the moment...
GuitarGodGt, if you have the time please shot some pics of the internal...I'll repay you with some virgins :D
Thank you guys

Drill the holes far enough back that they only go through the underside of the cabinet, not your frames. Most casters aren't put on the very edge of cabs as it is...That's where the little rubber feet go (which are just screwed on with short screws that don't penetrate through the wood).

If the diagram you posted is from top down and it's a straight front cab, than it'll be the same for bottom looking up...So, with that in mind, I added casters and feet to your diagram:

Notice the casters are off the frames so the bolts/screws would only go through the bottom piece of wood. Same goes for the rubber feet. For the feet, although it looks like they are going through the framework on the front, they would be screwed into the bottom piece of would and just use screws short enough not to go through.

Yes the casters are not flush with the edge of the frame.

Also there are 4 screws/bolts holding each caster to the frame but only 2 of those "drop sleeves" per caster. If I was doing a homemade job I would probably do all 4 myself (uless something made it impossible to do so.

So those 2 sleeves shown are for the inner most screws and the outer screws are just screwed into the wood. I tried to get a caster shot but it didn't come out well. I can post more pics though if wanted.
