Everybody is tearing the shit out of Sheehan, and I'm kinda wondering why. One of the greatest bass players in the last 20 years. If many professional musicians praise him, why is he so "bad"? Or am I just misinterpreting the comments?

no, i agree entirely. i just think a lot of opeth fans cant handle it when someone suggests another musician might be better than one of the guys in Opeth. sheehan is obviously hands down...a better bassist than "bass player". emotion/feeling aside anyway, but just because sheehan does an 8 minute solo during a live set...doesnt mean hes not capable of playing with feeling. i wouldnt necessarily say i can hear a ton of emotion in mendez's playing at any given time anyway. but im not saying mendez isnt good, either. but lets call a spade a spade shall we?

One thing I never understood is bass players that don't play the instrument to fit its own niche. All I see from that video is someone who wishes they were a guitarist. Boring.
