define your terms.

if by "elfen" you mean not dashing then you may be right.

if by "elfen" you mean "generally bad", then I detect an internal contradiction in your thesis; for "endearing" is a good thing and thus allows for a breakpoint from said thesis. Or, in other words, the "sometimes endearing" is sufficient for the nullification of your prior "NO, they cannot."

In either case, you leave a central ambiguity in your paper. I give you a B.
