Hey, so I've recently started a black metal solo project and would really appreciate some feedback, but firstly, I'll give you guys a little bit of background.

So I was given a piece of homework, biology specifically, and we had to put biology related lyrics over a song and make it a cover/remix. I, however, took it upon myself to create a black metal song. The class was surprisingly entertained.

Anyways, this sparked a strong desire in me to create music. I've always had trouble finding suitable bandmates, so this really is a solution. At the moment, I've only really created the one song (for my biology class) but some feed back would still be appreciated.

For the song I used an ordinary headset to record the guitar, bass and vocals, but plugged my electronic kit straight into my laptop, so I apologise for the very poor quality. Also, I've only been doing vocals for about 3 days at this point so I'm aware they could really use some working on, and I will also be having future music being posted in the future. And bare in mind that this was created in less than a day, and so was rushed. But as I said, there will be better music with better quality, but still with the lo fi feel.

Thank you.

I'm actually in the process of making music and your a step ahead of me, i need to get an interface and some sort of drumming software, Anyways good on the vocals (I fucking suck at black metal vocals). If you need any help i may be willing too. Look my shit up on Facebook its called "Red Storm". haven't actually put anything out yet so, lol

On your music, like i said good vocals. The production is good enough that you don't need to worry about it. Do you have the lyrics? (just for curiosity) The music itself sounds similar to other black metal but its different enough to be enjoyable.

Thanks a lot man! Yeah the riffing is pretty typical, but I'm working on this new song that takes a more depressive side to it. As soon as my phantom power supply arrives I'll work on recording.

As for the lyrics, they're all about the heart and the cardiac cycle haha. Stuff about atrial and ventricular systole, along with diastole. I don't have the lyrics anymore but that's about the gist of them.

Yeah sweet, my style is edging to a more atmospheric almost depressive style, I'll send you the first song if you want, I trust you enough you won't steal it lol, if you want it just pm me your email or something

Haha no I won't steal it, why not upload it to your soundcloud? but now that you mention it, I hope no one steals any of mine o.o

Nobody wants to steal your shit, you cunts.

@Dasim It sounds solid. If you want to keep the lo-fi sound, but make it a little more hard hitting, record a second guitar track and put it in the mix.

Thanks for the tip Black Orifice, that idea definitely did cross my mind, but since I had a deadline to meet I didn't have time to record another guitar, but I will do that in the future. and yeah I'm going to experiment with using an actual microphone to record the instruments and see how that differs the sound.

Thanks for all the feedback guys, feel free to follow my soundcloud for future posts

I think your vocals are damn fine actually. Not technically proficient but fucking dark. Also your riffwork is solid.

Good job.

@Gargamel Bojangles yeah I feel the same way actually. I know I'm capable of creating better music, but considering I spent less than 4 hours creating and recording this, there wasn't much I could do. But I will definitely be improving my music and spend more time on it.

@The Butt haha thanks man, I've gotta work on my lung capacity so I can create longer notes, and put some more power into the sound.

Also, I'm quite surprised no one's commented on the drumming yet haha.

One does not simply apologize for bad recording when creating black metal.

All jokes aside, sounds great considering it was done on a whim. Awesome vocals especially.

Thanks man, I really appreciate it. Considering the positive feedback I'm getting, I'm pretty excited to release something new
