Here we go first review of Cannibalised!

4.5/5 from www.metal-temple.com/

Here it is! At last! The brand new BIOMECHANICAL offering has finally reached my hands (even in a kind of irritating form). Without any doubt, the UK based metallers are one of the best things the Metal scene has to offer the last years, and the band insists on confirming our opinion with every single album it releases. So, after an incredible debut album and an even better second full-length effort, here comes the third strike, that as I can see is still deadly...

BIOMECHANICAL - for those that are unaware of this band - play Progressive Metal (with the pure meaning of the word "progressive"), since they have managed to perfectly mix elements that range from Thrash and Power Metal to Heavy and melodic Death Metal. The band’s main "rule" is diversity, since their sound is nothing like stuff that you have came across in the past. BIOMECHANICAL seem that they will never surrender to the classic Metal paths or the modern "necessary" Core fashion. If there is something that could do the work for me and describe their music, this would be "a pretty extreme version of NEVERMORE and MESHUGGAH".

The band’s NEVERMORE meets TEXTURES meets STRAPPING YOUNG LAD meets PANTERA Metal is something that amazed me from the first time I got in touch with it. And do not think that the whole "meaning" in this band is just the music. The perfect way to complete BIOMECHANICAL’s delirium is John’s voice. The Greek singer is the man under the spotlight, since he has managed to blow our brains to the wall with his combination of operatic screaming vocals (which remind me of singers like Wade Black and Tim "Ripper" Owens) and harsh distorted screams.

One more thing that will kicks your sorry ass in "Cannibalised" is the album’s sound, which is a totally explosive rock that will tear your house down! BIOMECHANICAL will be more than proud of having worked with a producer like Chris Tsangarides (JUDAS PRIEST, GARY MOORE). The result of such a collaboration couldn’t be anything else but good, and "Cannibalised" justifies this thought with its heavy as fuck guitar sound, its solid as a rock rhythm section and its rawness.

The UK metallers have managed to amaze us with one more raw, heavy and uncompromising Heavy Metal album. I personally believe that BIOMECHANICAL have already shown that they have great potential and their three albums are something more than a good proof. I have nothing more to add since "Cannibalised" can say it all in its approximately 48 minutes of great fucking music.

Amazing

Review From www.planet-loud.com

In Brief - A fantastic tech-thrash assault.

Biomechanical are perhaps Britain’s best kept metal secret, their second album ‘Empires of the World’ was one of the best albums of 2005 and certainly one of the most underrated. In 2007 however this is a completely different band due to numerous line up changes, thankfully however with John K at the helm the band have stuck to their sound that made them so unique in the first place.

‘Cannibalised’ is a technical thrash assault unlike anything else. The opening three songs are unleashed at break neck speed before ‘Breathing Silence’ brings a little calm to the proceedings, but not for long as ‘Predatory’ quickly ups the pace again. John K is perhaps the most forward thinking musician in the UK at the moment, highlighted by ‘Cannibalised’ itself which at times sounds like Meshuggah on fast forward, such are the technical elements included and the speed at which their played. ‘Cannibalised’ is an ambitious album, but one that isn’t over the top in the process. It’s almost as if the band knew their limits and has aimed slightly past that in order to create something mind blowing for the fans. If that was the case then they have hit the jackpot, with ten songs flowing and working together as an album perfectly. At the end of the album ‘Through Hatred Arise’ builds spectacularly into something truly epic, and while it does leave you hanging a bit, ‘Violent Descent’ quickly picks up the pieces. The whole album in fact has an epic feel, whether it be because of John K’s vocals or the black metal elements, there is just something about ‘Cannibalised’ that says this is a truly outstanding album.

Although Biomechanical may still remain the UK’s best kept metal secret such is the nature of the album. None the less ‘Cannibalised’ is a storming ear shattering album that will leave you exhausted just by listening to it.

Well... I must admit that I only knew Biomechanical by name but I have heard a lot of good things about their debut album “Eight Moons” (2002) and “The Empires of the World” (2005)... so I was eager to check them out. I can only say that I’m stunned. I’m sitting here listening to their brand new album entitled “Cannibalised” and I can’t seem to get enough of it. It has rarely left my CD-player since I received this promo-CD.

First time I threw this album in my CD-player I was knocked right out of my socks... so I instantly ordered their 2005 release “The Empires of the World” to check them out even further... and it’s also fucking great. - And I only knew them by name??? – Shame on me... shame on me!!!

The promo-CD that I’m holding in my hands contains 10 tracks... 10 awesome tracks with a splendid production. Crystal clear and powerful. This is... to put it simple... the best Progressive-Extreme-Schizophrenic-Metal album that I’ve ever heard. Just mix bands like Strapping Young Lad, Devin Townsend, Nevermore, Meshuggah, and Judas Priest (because of the Rob Halford-like vocals) with a Death/Thrash Metal band and you have a pretty good idea of the style and sound of Biomechanical.

Every single of the 10 tracks are more than great and I discover new things with every listen. We get very aggressive drumming, earth shattering guitar runs, kick-ass guitar solos, aggressive

vocals and speed... and I really mean SPEED. This is first class “controlled chaos”... period. Every time I reach the end of this CD... I press play once again... I can listen to “Cannibalised” over and over again. I’m just totally overwhelmed by the force and varied sound of this album, even though it sounds a tad chaotic at times... but it is controlled chaos, as written above. But now you have to excuse me because I have to order their debut album as well.

This album is a MUST BUY for every fan of Extreme Progressive Metal. The only thing that really annoys me about this promo-CD is that, this is a “Bleeped Promo. 2 times in every track you’re stressed with a high and REALLY annoying tone. DAMN! I do think that the record company, Earache records owes me a clean CD without the annoying tone. LOL!!!

Recommended tracks: All of them!

Congratulations on a job well done to John, the former band members, and Mr. Tsangrides. I can't wait to have the limited edition in my hands! The first two albums have really inspired me in the creativity department lately. I think Cannibalised will put me in overload!

Good luck to the new blood trying to replicate the music live. That's some tough shit.

Et voilà my translation ! /\^^\m/

BIOMECHANICAL
Cannibalised
4/5
Ultra modern heavy thrash

When Biomechanical appeared in 2005 with Empires of the worlds, United Kingdom made them their new prophets, replacing a long sickly Judas Priest. In 2007, the band, even though they went through 6 long years of hard times together, imploded under the pressure of a John K (singer) wanting to impose his views to everyone. The man could have gone back to working in a factory, but decided instead to take the band name, bring together a brand new line up, and get to it again. Here is the result. Cannibalised. Improbable crossbreed between the Judas Priest of the Painkiller era, the instrumental maelstrom of Dragonforce (which Adrian Lambert, the new "bio" bassist, comes from), the bombast of the better days of Cradle Of Filth, SikTh's technicity, and the sound of Chris Tsangadires (Judas Priest). A kind of gigantic best of of England's cream of the crop (stop looking for Ballet for my Clementine, they're not part of it). Okay, Biomechanical puts 15 layers where we would have been happy with five, and their music is so filled with informations that it can be difficult to digest sometimes, but goddamn, what a band (and what a colossal fucking singer) ! Anyone who survives the symphonic "Through hatred arise" can go back to touching themselves listening to their metalcore records. British heavy metal doesn't care. It found a name. Biomechanical, for those of you who didn't read the beginning of this article.
