How come Cathedral don't get any apprecation in this forum? All sorts of other doom bands get "the props", yet the band (and largely in Lee Dorian the individual), responsible for popularising the cause of doom in the 90's and beyond gets almost no recognition here.

Why is that?

I can think of only two reasons:

a) You don't know Cathedral
b) You don't like them

Which and why?

a). I know of them but haven't bought their albums as of yet. Hell I only have one Candlemass album... gotta work my way through their stuff first.

If you don't like slow, listen to their album 'Crush the Insects'. It's more rockish and a lot of fun. The only song which can get tedious on it is Fucking Wizard.

fuck, now im probably gonna have to go shill out some dough for two new bands. got to many cds now to possibly listen to but theres just way too many interesting bands out there. i can only imagine how much money i'd have if i wasn t such a music junkie

All cathedral is really good to me except for endtime or whatever it is. Cathedral imo is better than 90% of newer music.

I really like Endtyme though, tbh. It's not as easy to get into as most of their latter stuff, but it's much, much more unpleasant.

Endtyme is not hard to get into it's just a lazy lackluster boring album. Every band has a lower point and this is cathedral's. end! (tyme).

Actually, it was calculated to be a return to more serious doom, since they had gone too far in the stoner direction on Caravan Beyond Redemption, according to Lee in one interview from around that time.

It's a tad po-faced for Cathedral, i.m.o., and it loses some of the character of the band because of it. Endtyme came out right about the same time as Warhorse, and it was basically their response, if memory serves me correct.

Anyway, Cathedrals worst is still better than most bands best...
