Caught in a Web - First Mix/Master with current Rig

Hey guys, this is my first post on the forum! Been a creeper for a little while now but figured it was about time I started taking some action!

Decided to do a Dream Theater cover with my new 7 string guitar. I've only been into home recording for about 8 months now so I'd love to get some critique from some more experienced members here on the forum. This is my first fully mixed and mastered song I've done with my current rig.

sounds pretty good but way to much low end with the bass and guitars. try lowering/controlling that more and maybe make some space for the kicks low end in the bass track

okay thanks for the advice man, I'll definitely try messing with some EQs and cut the bass for the kick and just get a little less bassy in general

First of all, I like it. You got the guitar tone down pretty good. Go by this book http://www.systematicproductions.com/mixing-guide.html Its by a guy who is always on this board. Go read his guide to mixing drums. It will help you a lot next time you go to mix drums. http://www.ultimatemetal.com/forum/...ng-series-2-soviet-russia-drums-slam-you.html Both of these will help with your mixing. But overall its very good. I love Dream Theater BTW.

yeh i'd have high passed the guitars and i wouldn't have the bass so high. guitars probably need a bit more high end content too. but not a bad effort.
