I hate that also. It happened to me when I got MAGICA a few years ago. was all excited in hearing some brand spankin new Dio, and when I open the plastic wrapping around the cd, the middle things are broken, I realise that the back cover is completly smashed with a huge scratch, and whats worse, is that the scratch has continued onto the actual CD! It was totally unplayable, and unacceptable. I took it back to Utopia about a week later (I dont live near the city) and bloody well demanded a refund. But they tried to tell me that I was the one who broke the cd??! What the fuck chuck? They even said 'You must have trodden on it or something!!' Yeah.. cause that is one of my all time favorite hobbies. To pay $30 for a cd thinking it is a bunch of grapes ready to be made into wine!
It was screwed when I bought it. I walked out of the store not very happy because I no that it was like that when I bought it... Just didnt look at it untill I got home. They didnt refund me or even exchange me. The more I thought about it, the more pissed off I got, so i rang them up, and they started swearing at me saying shit like : 'Mate, we told you that it wasnt broken, and you aint getting a fuckin refund or exchange. We are not fuckin idiots, we know it was you who broke it'.
I hung up the phone, made a few phone calls to some mates studying law.... He said to just ring them again and bullshit them with big mumbo jumbo and they will succumb because they couldnt be assed fighting over it anymore.
I rang em back, said some big words, and the finally gave in and said 'Fine, bring it in and you can swap it!'
I still have the broken cd here because I couldnt be bothered getting a train all the way back to the city to swap it! hahahahahaha
It was the principal of the thing!
