Bloodbath - The Fathomless Mastery
The first song comes right out and kicks your ass, and it doesn't let up at all through-out the whole cd. To me, Bloodbath is the epitomy of perfect death metal(perfect technicality but not getting too technical), and they have a groove and melody throughout it all as well, and to me there is no better growler than Akerfeldt. I thought the EP unblessing the purity was amazing, and this one is a step-up even from those. The production is perfect in my ears and there are no complaints about anything period. I will be listening to this for the next few months probably non-stop.

I don't think they've ever come close to matching the 3-song perfection of the first EP, but now that Akerfeldt's back in the mix, I gotta check it out...he is one of the best death metal vocalists around (on par with Paul Kuhr for understandable and guttural at the same time).

listen to dead congregation instead

and the album of the year is probably coming to my mailbox soon, by a weeeee little band called Ironsword

I don't think they have lost much from Swano leaving(and I am a huge Swano fan), because Blakheim does a lot of the writing anyways, at least on nightmares made flesh I know Swano really only wrote a few songs. I just love hearing Axenrot just tear ass on this cd.

rms - You and I need to go drinking some night, as you and I seem to have similar tastes...

and im getting into doom :kickass: you ever heard of Forsaken(from friggin malta?) I bought their cd wasn't for me, wondering if you're interested...cd is titled Anima Mundi i'd trade sell it for ya

the next album(which came out last week) is supposed to be like 80s Manilla Road...if so i'm going to be orgasming Ironsword on any forum for a few months

Make sure you check out Dantesco's latest. Awesome stuff. If you haven't heard them before I think you'll enjoy.

Bloodbath doesn't do much for me at this point.

Another cd I just checked out that is kicking my ass is Abigail Williams new cd(they are very similar to Dimmu, heavy use of the keys(similar to the way Dimmu uses them on enthrone darkness triumphant) and the atmosphere of the riffs).

After having a few more days with this cd, it is definately my cd of the year thus far. I don't think much else could come out and steal it's place, unless something sneaks up on me from a band I don't know and just really kicks me in the face. We'll see after I get my hands on the new Suspyre, but my tastes lately have been towards the heavier end, and have been for a while. The new cloudscape and andromeda are great cds and are up on my list, but just don't give me the agressive edge I have been craving lately.
