so it's not a CD...suck my balls!

I personally like having first press of EVERY CD and vinyl I buy. For albums released in the '80's I usually buy first press LP; for albums released in the '90's or '00's I usually buy first press CD. And I don't worry to spend very much.

The best thing about first pressings - no lame "bonus tracks".

I like a lot of the bonus tracks on the Judas Priest Remasters.

Oh anyway, if I found an original vinyl copy of Legend - From the Fjords in a little shop owned by someone who doesn't know what it is, for about 50p then I would count my self the heavy metal collecting champion.

Basically anything with a shitty repressing.

Carbonized - For the Security
Therion - Of Darkness...
Therion - Beyond Sanctorum
Sentenced - Shadows of the Past
Unleashed - Where No Life Dwells

I don't think I ever made an extra effort to buy first press of an album, I'm happy as long as I've got the music. Maybe if it was a really shitty repress were they totally ruined the sound on the album (don't think I've experianced that yet though), just new artwork, a lame booklet and failure bonustracks aren't enough for me.

Pan-Thy-Monium `dawn of dreams,khaooohs,dream II.
Anathema `the crestfallen,serenades,pentecost III.
Therion `beyond sanctorum,symphony masses...
Grave `into the grave, you'll never see.
Unleashed 'first three.
Asphyx- ^
Paradise Lost `lost paradise,gothic.

probably forgetting some

It's a collector thing.

I think it more has to do with the fact that people like original art/layout and the original sound. A lot of re-releases are generally crappy and some labels do it to try and get a quick buck. RR and Century Media for example have done some horrible reissues along with Nuclear Blast, not the only labels.

I sort of get you about the artwork thing. I have the re-releases of that early Unleashed stuff. To be honest though you can turn the cover round to show the artwork you prefer. Plus Where No Life Dwells only has an EP added on.

All the Judas Priest albums that were 'remastered' (by that I mean slaughtered), the sound quality is just awful and the originals are so much better. Having to hunt around on ebay and the like since all the major cd shops only stock the re-issues.
