Has anyone compared either of these two units? I would like to get a complimentary mic pre to go with my GR Mp2nv and was thinking of one of these. I know one has the eq and the other doesn't.

Any thoughts?
Thanks

I remember seeing posts that the pre-amps are the same, only one is 2 channels with no EQ, and the other is a 1 channel design with EQ.

I have the TG-2, but haven't gotten the chance to try out the others you mentioned. No complaints!

I would go for the TG-2 . I think it is far more versatile. You get two preamps in one box and can go stereo. Also you have the impedanmce switch and can switch between 1200 Ohms and 300 Ohms which changes the sound a lot and is great for ribbon mics. The current TG2 comes with the summing mod - where you can route the input of the two channles OTB together. The TG Channel does not have the impedance switch. Also the TG2 has 75dB of gain , the TG Channel only 65dB. I have heard that the pre of the TG2 should have a lillte more mojo compared to the TG Channel when the EQ is bypassed.

the tg 2 is one of the best pre amps ever made! It along with the great river are my desert island pres! ssounds fantastic on oooh fucking everything! a little darker are more pronounced in the low end than the g.r, but i love that damn thing.
buy it....
now!

Thanks for the great advice, looks like I will be getting the TG2 for the added features.

Can anyone recommend a ribbon to try out?

Thanks!
