Check this! KILLER CRUSHER FIEND with VOX

This might not be the best possible advice for you since I'm really, REALLY drunk right now, but here's what I think from a quick, drunken listening:

The guitars sound a bit too thin. The sound itself lacks some balls. Also, you should check the panning on the guitar tracks. In the beginning, the rhythm track is on the left and the lead (I guess it's the lead, fuck, I didn't realise I was this wasted) is on the right. Try panning the rhythm tracks L/R and the leads close to the center.

Also I don't dig the snare sound. It comes too much through, kinda bites the ear. Try giving it a bit more body and sinking it more to the rest of the drums.

Sorry if I sound confusing, but as I said, I've got some alcohol running thru my veins right now. I'll give the mix a new listening tomorrow, but this is what it sounds like to me right now.

Other than that, I think you have a pretty good start to start tweaking from. Good stuff, mate! :)

thanks Guys!
I agree it doesnt have balls. I had an earlier mix and master that had alot more bottom end but then i lost the guitars and vox in the mix so i went for the "castrated" option:erk:
The snare is shit i totally agree - what would you recommmend to make it sound better?
Regarding your comments on the panning i realise i have been inconsistent on the mix coz as you say lead and rhythm are panned hard L&R but later the solo is centred and at this point there are two more rhythm guitars to balance the L&R panning.
...I dont have any more rhythm gtrs takes for the Right panning under the earlier leads but i could copy the existing ones...would that work?
My thoughts on the panning as it currrently sits is to have a "hole in the middle of the stereo field" (quad trk'd gtrs panned hard L&R)for the drums and Vox. If i centre the lead i guess i will have to hack away the EQ so that it doesnt compete with the vox??....

Am i making sense ...or just incompetent? :goggly:
