Cheers and Jeers Thread

You just got me laughing pretty hard in my chair here remembering that guy. You paint a pretty accurate picture.

If it's the guy I'm thinking of, he also treated everyone on the street to a loud, drunken rendition of BOC's Stairway to the Stars on the way back to the RI Friday night. His wife / gf kept trying to get him to keep it down, but to no avail. It was pretty funny :)

LOL... see, that's the funny thing about musicians... if *I* were to walk around kissing women at ProgPower, people would go, "What a weird guy." Also, I'm pretty sure I'd have a permanent handprint on my face.

Not true... I would be flattered to get a kiss from you!! :) I suggest you try it next year and see what happens. :)

AFAIK, Damian was just giving little pecks on the cheek... I think I got 2 as well.

Since alot of people had complaints about the bartenders, I have a quick question...Did any of you use a credit card, write the tip in, and when you checked your transactions in your bank account the total wasn't the same? I bought two double drinks plus tip was $31 and the transaction on my bank statement says $44...I think one of the bartenders put their own tip on my receipt. Did anyone else have this problem? That'll be the last time i ever use my credit card at Center Stage.

CHEERS
- To the bands and the fans for perservering through the technical problems, which no one seems to want to address. Could have been more disasterous,

- Too many technical problems... I'm sorry, but guitars and keyboards going out... mics barely inaudible or not working at all. Bad mixes. I can think of maybe 2 bands that had no issues. This problem was perhaps at it's worst during the jam, with inaudible or completely dead mics, kind of defeated the whole purpose OF the jam. It just got real old by late Sat night.

There is a thread dedicated to the technical issues with posts by various members of the crew. Please look closer before making a "no one wants to address" as it was done yesterday morning.

Challenge it. Have your CC company demand to see the signed receipt.

No, I mean DIGITAL cameras. Tons of them were in use. I don't mean cell phone cameras, I mean regular small digital cameras.

Point and shoot = non SLR camera. Very common, cheap digital cameras.

Heck, people told me that they brought in backpacks and no one inspected them. Again, why have a policy that's not enforced.

This will be addressed next year to the best of my ability. Digital cameras were allowed for my VIPs and bands. My resources are limited and I cannot catch every single person that attempts to sneak something by me. As much as I would love to concentrate just on this issue, other things are a priority.

I would be happy to put you directly in touch with the bar manager for the venue if you wish to pursue action. Please email me privately.

I know Todd was inspecting cameras when doors opened, but obviously once things got started, he was busy taking his amazing photos. I think the other sneak ins came later in the day. The security guards weren't really focused on checking people coming in later. They are super cool guys and I'm sure they would if they were asked to ;)

I was only asked to check my purse once throughout the entire weekend. This was Saturday on the way in by a young girl who barely checked. She asked if I had a camera, I pulled out my disposable and said "only film" and she barely peeked into my bag before waving me by after seeing the disposable. I could have easily had a camera in the hand holding my bag, in my pants pocket, or elsewhere in my bag (though it's not that big)...

Bigs and I saw a guy blatantly recording the episode with Damien and the girl, but when he went to get someone he couldn't find anyone. Side note, it's even creepier that this guy found THAT the most important thing to tape... :yuk: wanted him busted even more for that!

It's all too bad, because I don't want to see the event be bootlegged, but what else can be done to ensure it won't happen? :(

Cheers: Lance for having MindFlow's "Just the Two of Us.. Me and Them"
Cheers: Men who give polite kisses on the cheek and hand
Cheers: "Oh Mattias.. you are a beautiful guy!" ROFL!
Cheers: Not getting hit with the PP Plague! So far, so good!
Cheers: AirTran - they f*ckin ROCK! NO Hassles, great prices, and FREE headphones for their XM radio!! Hell yeah!

Jeers: MetalRose loosing her Gold Badge :(
Jeers: Somehow going ALL DAY without seeing some friends that I normally would run into 20 times a night. Bizarre !
Jeers: Walking back to the Marriott Courtyard with Petros (Firewind). I think he has a hip/leg/knee issue. Must have been maddening.. yet I complained about the hike.
Jeers: the sore of my boot coming unglued from the heel... again... but at least I didn't superglue my fingers together again like I did last year.
Jeers: Bitchy girlfriends that won't let me catch up my friends.
Jeers: Firewind's Chinese food that gave me a swollen lip :erk: Finally went down this morning! (Since Saturday!)
Jeers: Not meeting Glenn face to face. :erk: Next year, I owe you a drink! lol!

-Mom and Dad. I seriously have the BEST parents ever. Ever ever. Thanks for all your help this weekend and always taking care of your baby girls. :) It was fun people watching together too ;) and Daddy, I'll try to get better at throwing the "help me he's bothering me" VS. "SCRAM - I like him" looks ;) Do yourself a favor next year and meet my parents. They are THE best!

Funny you should say that because I actually spent quite a bit of time talking to your Mom and Dad before Threshold (and before I knew they were your mom and dad) as I was sitting next to them in the seats behind the sound board. It's funnier still that I have never met you and Annie, but if you ladies are as cool as your parents, (and J-man says that you are) I'll definitely have to say hello to you both next year! ;)

My friend had this happen to her at a bar here in Phoenix one night, she spent $250 on drinks for everyone one Friday night, and the bartender handed her the reciept, which already had a tip written in.. OF $50! ... fortunately she asked someone sober to look at it before handing it back. I would have had the person CANNED, and it's the reason I NEVER use a credit card at a resturaunt or bar anymore.

CHEERS:

- Major cheers to all the bands I got to see. Amazing performances.
- Spending time again with my PP family, great to see all of you guys again, even if it means you making fun of my accent ;)
- Not being randomly picked by customs coming back home and being troubled about the whole ton of CDs and other stuff I brought back

JEERS:

- I can't believe no one (that I could see) mentionned this jeer : Aki not being there !
- Finally, my one MAJOR jeer : time somehow going faster in the US around PP-time than in France. I have troubles believing I was there for actually 10days as they went by so fast :)

Cheers:

My biggest cheers go to all of my friends who helped me making this trip possible, more specifically Greg (shaq), Rich (metalsped) and Julien (Mynock aka French Toast). I wouldn't have made it to Atlanta if it wasn't because of you three. I will truly never forget what you guys did, and hope someday to be able to do something to make it up to you guys. YOU GUYS RULE!!

Big (not as big though) cheers to all of my friends who made of the last week the best week of my entire life. Thank you so much. I'd list every single one of them, but there's way too many and I have to be in class in 5 minutes. You know who you are.

Big cheers to Glenn, Shane, all of the staff and bands involved in the festival. Every single year you guys do an outstanding job. I've been going to PP since PP3 and will keep on doing the same exact thing every fucking year!! Good job once again!

Cheers: To Glenn, his wife, and everyone else that makes this event what it is. I had more fun this year than last year. Is that even remotely possible? I cannot thank you or give you enough praise. Makes the ice around my heart actually melt a bit.
Cheers: To all the cool people i met over the weekend. I enjoyed hanging out, drinking, conversation, etc and hope you did as well.
Cheers: to Delta for getting me there and back in 1 piece with little to no turbulence.
Cheers: to all the bands, i enjoyed the music immensely and hope you had fun.

I don't really have any jeers. Just a few minor things that made me go "eh oh well" during the weekend. Well i have a jeer but that's to Super 8 for giving me a midget sized towels. Last time I checked 6'1" isn't short.

I will say this in closing: to those of you who ate at the Madison Grill up the street, saturday night was some of THE worst service i have experienced. My buddy Ripper and i went there every night last year and it wasn't bad.
