Spawn: The calendar is a regular calendar size. About 30cmx30cm, but when you hang it up its obviously double the size. Its just got one Blake painting for each month. The May one on now is some people running around a grave screaming

Bucko: 2001, but I've seen em around last year and before. It's one of those Ink Group jobs. Pretty easy to find, especially at those calendar stalls there are at shopping centres. Mine cost $2.50 because I got it in Febuary

Without knowing anything about Slayer I guess their music is shock rock and sells based on image / reputation? I really don't know.

My beef is this, if Bruce puts out an album with deep meaningful stuff on it, why include a song like that? Is there any Blake content in that song? Was blake into the whole satanic stuff (I seriously doubt it?).

What's the meaning of "King in Crimson comes, arise away...", run away from the devil or something.. pretty dumb IMO. It shits me that this album is 90% freakin shit hot and then these two tracks are so dark and have evil content/intent.

Is this stuff interpretation of Blakes work (in line with the album) or Bruce's work alone?

Chemical Wedding is the album I would like to show other people to get them into Metal, friends etc. but I hesitate due to these two tracks and what others will perceive them to mean... grrr...

Slayers lyrics are basically about killing/death/murder in just about EVERY song, i cant think of one that doesnt involve it actually, they are a really great band though, like i said, they are like one of those teen horror flicks (well the good ones...not that i can think of a good one though at the moment.......) in my mind, mindless but enjoyable.

I love the song king in crimson, but i understand what you mean about playing killing floor in front of people, it just sounds a bit silly really.
But i think every metal band has one or two songs that are like that, they seem to go through a period where they need to write about something evil and shocking to prove how metal they are or something, i would have though bruce was old enough to be past that stuff now, but then, slayer hasnt grown out of it

OK, you asked, here's my opinion.

If you get rid of all the directly non-Blake stuff on the album, you're left with 4 songs. Thel, Urizen, Jerusalem and Jericho. And I'm not sure about Jericho. I'll check later.

Wedding, Tower and Alchemist I would call "Blake inspired".

King, Killing and Machine have nothing to do with Blake at all.

As far as the "suitability" of King and Killing, well I'll leave that to personal preferences. I like them. Killing does stick out a bit though, and I hadn't really noticed King until you mentioned it.

You listen to metal. It kinda lends itself to dark and heavy. I haven't heard many metal songs about flowers and moonbeams. As a matter of fact, I would call the majority of the album dark.

I struggle to thing of one metal album that hasn't got one "evil" track on it, and if you're going to get people into metal, then they're going the hear a Satan song sooner or later.

I wouldn't say that Bruce put it on to attract an audience, He doesn't have to do that, and if he was going to do that then that would have been the theme of the album. I think he just needed another song to go on the album, and that's what was selected.

Phloggy, sounds to me as if you dont give a shit one way or the other ?

I am not saying albums should be all about good etc, I am against the Satanic references in particular.

I agree people who get into Metal are going to come across this, I guess it's up to each individual to take from the music what they want, i.e. their choice.

I think it's only me and please don't think I'm all high and mighty about it, I'm not, I just choose to skip those tracks.

In some ways i am quite hypocritical, I mean I do listen to NOTB track and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath which both include bad shit.. I dunno, I guess my whole point is IMO Bruce took the dark side of CW a bit too far - but that's just my opinion so take it or leave it.

Well, I didnt want to say that incase anyone thinks im some kind of psycho for listening to them, so thanks phloggy, now i look like a psychopath
Erm......Skeletons of society isnt so bad.......thats about the only song i can think of of theirs though

I believe all the songs relate to Blake in some way, even tho they don't all directly quote his works like "Jerusalem" and "Book of Thel"...the only song I have questioned its relivance is "Machine Men".

I have read many interpretations of "King in Crimson", all very intelligent and believable, so I have no doubt it relates quite strongly to Blake's work.

Have you heard it on Scream For Me Brazil at the start, bruce shouts out at the top of his voice 'SATAN' croud chears 'has left his killing floor' Sounds really lame

but there are heaps of cool songs about him to, i think they should be more subtle about it.

but i have no problems with songs about the red man, satan rules dude
