So when are we all, or ANYONE for that matter, going to start discussing Chinchilla in the frame of up and coming mega-bands? I just got their new cd out in Chicago this weekend and it crushes, completely and totally. I guess I"m wondering because Brainstorm sorta came out of nowhere and right into the big leagues (especially with Liquid Monster now) and I'm thinking that Chinchilla, despite the weak name, delivers a whallop.

So what's up? Anyone agree that this band needs to have some buzz?

They've got a couple of good songs, but to me they don't quite cut it yet. Unless the new album is a big step forward. Haven't heard the new one yet.

You mean you didn't like the last one either? I'm thinking that this band is going to "Brainstorm" everyone all of a sudden sooner or later!

I don't think Chinchilla ranks up there with Brainstorm, but they have definitely released some solid albums over the years. I saw them live a few months ago opening for Saxon and they were ok...singer sounds very good live, but their music tends to get boring after a while as everything sounds very similar.

I haven't heard of this band yet, I'll check them out.

By the way:
Ralf Walter, it's a stupid question but I can't help but ask...Is that quote in your sig a reference to Divinity Destroyed, or just a coincidence?

We played a show in Toledo Ohio with a band called Yeti Machete. I thought that was the most badass band name I've heard in years! The band logo was evil and funny at the same time! I was excited! And then we saw em...

Buncha dorky emo high school kids with plastic Santa Claus statues painted green like evil leprechauns on stage.

I won't even mention what they sounded like....

Actually, it's a reference to Dune.

Not Progpower Quality?
I really like this band alot. And I'm probably going to get slayed but I thought they were PPIV material. And could set foot on the Earthlink stage and blow away several bands that have already played there. Secret Sphere for example. I love all the studio material but they did not do well live. Just last year Dreamscape, although VERY! Good in the studio. Just did not translate to the live stage. I am in no way knocking the lineups chosen every year.
Not evry band is going to have a great show that night. Everyone has an off night, Just ask Donavan McNabb after the Super Bowl.
Chinchilla are( I think) one of the top 25 power metal bands around. Great vocals and plenty of crunch. But you know what they say about opinions. If you have not heard this band definitley check them out.
