Chinese Democracy

not really, it just had degrasso in place of Menza. Friedman quit during the Risk tour. TWNAH was Dave trying to get agressive again, much like what Metallica have done with sta anger and Death Magnetic.

I thought megadeth were progressing well up until Risk. On Youthanaisa, Cryptic and Risk they went places they hadn't been before. Some may call it selling out, i call it musical progression. I saw no reason to do a 180 degrees after that on TWNAH, TSHF and UA.

To me Dave, Junior, Nick and Marty were the soul of megadeth. To me i dont see a main songwriter as being THE BAND.

well sorry but axl has been the only original member of guns n roses since izzy left in 1991. GNR had 4 different lineups before use your illusions were even released. it was axl and izzy's band. if you look at the songwriting credits more than half of the GNR catalog is written by axl and izzy. megadeth has about 7 recorded lineups and people still say its megadeth. people who don't like chinese democracy are people who either really want a reunion of the appetite for destruction or use your illusion lineups or hate when a band shows any musical progress

Chinese Poop has plenty of promotion.. Everyone knows it is out.. The radio stations were playing the whole album and they had big listening parties accross the US.

And don't start that shit about Axl being the only original member after Izzy left. Axl, Izzy, Slash, Duff and Steven are the original members.. They are the ones that put Gn'R on the map.. They are the ones that got fucking signed. They are the ones that wrote and recorded Appetite for destruction. They are the ones that became a phenomenon.

Don't start giving credit to some assholes that played a couple club shows with the band.

thats like saying dave mustaine isn't an original member of metallica when of course he is. tracii guns and the people who came from l.a. guns are the GUNS part of GUNS and rose. rose plus the band hollywood rose are the rose part of the name. if it wasn't for the 2 bands merging it would still have been called hollywood rose so in fact yes we must give credit to the real original guys who actually made the bands name guns n roses

i agree. i love when bands progress which is why i love queensryche, living colour, extreme, etc. TWNAH sounded super forced but not TSHF or UA. most of risk though was the record company, management and marty friedmans ideas so the fact dave went back to something more familiar didn't surprise me

Irrespective of where GNR got their name from, the fact is Traci Guns and all those other guys never played on AFD.

A lot of bands when they first start out, play with tons of people before they actually settle on a final line-up and release their first record.
In the early beggingings of Megadeth, Dave and Junior might have played with a few other musicians before picking Chris and Gars and recording KIMB. Do you think Dave would consider all those musicians he played with to be original members of Megadeth ? No. On the contrary he now claims that he wrote all the music and lyrics for every record and so everybody who plays on them (including Junior) were - in essence - hired guns, and that he himself is, was and will be Megadeth. This coming from the same man that never recorded an album with metallica and yet considers himself part of the Metallica legacy. As Lars recently said in an interview "he’s never played on a Metallica record, he was in the band for 10 months, 25 years ago! That’s an amazing statistic when you think about it, and still Metallica is such a prominent part of his existence"

This man is a genius of a guitar player and song-writer but his comments and his behavior border on the hypocritical more often than not. He posted last week about how fans are constantly bagging on him for his musical choices, what does he expect ? He made a conscious decision to make records like Cryptic and Risk and if you read his interviews after those records were released, he is totally in support of the musical direction on both of em.Fast forward to 2004 and he is blaming Dann Huff (producer) for Megadeth going soft. The guy just refuses to stand up and accept responsibility for his actions. In his opinion, everybody else is to blame for anything bad that happens to him.

yet axl rose himslf says tracii guns was the original GNR guitar player, weird ain't it?

when did dave mustaine say everyone was a hired gun or say he wrote all of the stuff? the booklet's liner notes clearly say who wrote the songs and a few are credited to just ellefson or ellefson and friedman or whatever combination you can get. dave mustaine said in 2001 dann huff, bub prager(sp?) and friedman were the reason why RISK sounds the way it does. friedman left because dave removed some of his guitar harmonics that made songs sound more pop and removed a solo or 2

suggested it in his posts and interviews ? he didn't mean that they weren't members of the band but he said that they'd contributed very little to the band in all their time and attributes all megadeth's success to his own hard work and dedication. If you are a member on the Megadeth forums (which i think you are cause your username is very familiar) you will have seen a lot of this in his posts.

Exactly, he's blames Dann, Bud and Marty...and Dann in particular for Megadeth's descent into commercialdom . I dont recall the exact words of his post but he said something to the effect that Dann's musical interests leaned mroe towards pop than rock and that he(Dave) at the time did not realize than Dann was "trying to be metal". hence the term "sheep in wolf's clothing".

If he was not happy with the way Risk turned out, that's fine. he was forced into doing something he didn't want to do and that's that - A lot of artists are. But why bitch about it in 2001 ? The fans aren;t happy with megdeth going soft and his answer is "dont blame me, it's marty's fault and dann and bud's"

yes i am on the megadeth forums but if any of this stuff was talked about in the megadeth section then i missed it. i'm normally in the total anarchy section. also mustaine did play on metallica's widely circulated pre kill 'em all demo's and gets song writign credits on 6-8 songs from the first few albums so its not like he was some guy who just played gigs with them 25 years ago and then that was it. like someone else said before, if lars and james didn't want mustaine's time in the band mentioned after he was fired then they shouldn't have used material he had written while in the band

What has happened to Dave has happened with a lot of other musicians. he;s not the only one to get fucked over. he needs to grow up and move on - which is something he's unwilling to do. He's made some of the best records ever (personally i'd take megadeth over metallica any day) and doesn;t need to keep attaching himself to the metallica legacy. His constant whining and criticism is getting tired.

i do prefer megadeth over metallica too but still if lars or james says "this guy really wasn't important to the band after the first year" or whatever they say then why did they feel the need to record songs mustaine had written? dave needs to give up the ghost but lars and james need to admit that mustaine was a huge reason they are here today for the fact he wrote most of the songs that got them started. hell back in the day dave was a frontman too, james sang and then mustaine did the in between crowd talking

ok after repeated listens i am actually quite liking Chinese Democract. GNR or not, this record has some very good songs.

so I gave this thing time to settle in for me. Just cant get into it. I mean its not terrible but at the same time I dont rly care if I ever listen to it again. Shoulda never been called GnR. GnR it isnt...... Other serious talents (Mike Patton) are out there doing all sorts of things and not relying on the old band names for recognition......just sayin....
