I haven't read the story [I think it is one?] you mean...
but I think they want to express the ... atmosphere when they say 'city of glass'
for me that means ... a very hostile, unreal place. A city, which could be easily
broken... which is full with [of?] light and where you could be seen from any corner
without seeing who is watching you. And all that kind of stuff.
I don't know, but this is what it means to me
seems like it´s not linked with that book, but anyways in the book the title implies a city where everything is transparent, where one can see everything, but which still has barriers which prevent true communication. It also suggests mirrors, a locked room where the people think that they are free to move around in an infinity of space, but where in reality they are trapped in a room with a mirror on each wall, so that the infinite space that the character sees is really a tiny room, and the other people that he sees are no more than doubles of himself.
Interesting book by the way.
I think it's good that we all have lots of different opinions, and a sign of the quality of Katatonia's lyrics.
The lyrics genuinely impress me, as a pose to those of Opeth. Damnation had good lyrics, and their conceptual stories were good (conceptually), but I think it's a lot easier to relate to the lyrics of Katatonia.
