Classics Reborn

I saw on the news last night that Dee and Twisted Sister are back in the news here. Apparently that court case against the politician using their music heads to court this week. The weird thing here is that while Sony (I think it is) are pushing the case because they own the music Dee himself is somehow being dragged into it. Clive has claimed Dee can't sue for the use of a tune he stole from a christmas carol, which actually seems legit since Dee himself admitted that. But for some reason Clive's not really focusing on Sony or the label, he focusing everything on Dee. It could well be because Dee mad a dick of himself in the press when he was here an Clive was jealous, but this is the first time in history where I actually want a politician to win!

Clive is also in court this week fighting for the Western Australia border to be open. He's got a shitload of money tied up mines in Western Australia and with that state closing off all interstate workers they have basically closed down Clive's operations. Mining is the only thing that has kept Western Australia alive in the last 30 years so the decision obviously isn't made lightly, but Clive really is only interested in Clive and he really does love court battles.

Our courts are a joke. You go in today for the judge to hear if there is a case and if he/she decides there is he sets the court date for anything up to 2 years. It started as a way to allow legal teams to prepare but it's got so out of hand now the back log of cases have that kind of wait just to find a free date. This case should have been over sooner, but when Sony got involved at Dee's request the judge decided it needed a bigger deal made of it since both sides had lots of money.

Well Clive's not worried who makes his money for him as long as they do it with the minimum fuss. Western Australia are is a shitty position now, they've done a New Zealand. They closed their borders, claimed they got Covid under control and acted all superior in doing so, but it's left them massively susceptible to an outbreak if one happens. I understand them wanting to remain closed but the truth of the matter is their economy can not withstand all the fly in fly out workers from other states not turning up to work.

Same here, My friend had a simple traffic incident and has now been going to court for two years. Every time she goes they just continue it to a later date.

It's an odd system and it's not hard to see why so many people say it's a system designed to make lawyers rich. I don't have a problem with lawyers being rich, they paid a lot for their degrees, but shit they don't have to make the equivalent of that degree off every client!
