I'm still alive! :p But weren't I a Villain, I would probably have died long ago.

Regarding the Stanne / Åkerfeldt issue, I agree with FatherVic: Stanne is better at growling, whereas Åkerfeldt has a better singing voice, IMHO.

I am not saying that I dont like his clean vocals the only thing that bothers me is when his voice has that cracking sound in it to tell the truth I wish he would use it even more (clean vocals) I would like it if he did go back to using the more but a lot of people I show Projecter say they don't like his clean vocals but dont get me wrong I think there great but I would still have to say they are not comparable to Akerfeldt's.

I agree. Akerfeldt is superior to Stanne. He´s got unbelievable
clean voice, it´s pure, in tone and confident. Although he´s been practising his voice more than Stanne...The voice´s cracking on Projector doesn´t bother me though, but that female vocalist´s
"yenerated" on Undo Control is a bit irritating, though...

I love his clean vocals and i would highly appreciate if any of you chupi guys would ask the question about clean vocals on the new one in this IRC-chat-thingie and then post what he answered...

well I was thinking on that......I don't know....
may be a mixture of both.....Projector was nearly a clean_only vox...so may be a new one with some clean more growls would be ggggrrrrrrrreat (as Tony the Tiger would say)

I think Akerfeldt's clean vocals aren't quite as good as Stanne's. While there really isn't anything wrong with them - you gotta admit they're a bit bland. They sound too much like an average light rock singer (please don't flame me for this). Stanne's voice is lower, easier on the ears. And he's got a very unique style, very emotional.

On the other hand, when it comes to growling, Akerdfeld's superior. I thought Stanne's growls were too sharp in Projector, and too high in earleir albums, plus he's got that annoying habit of inserting additional syllables at the end of words from time to time, Hetfield-style... Akerfeldt's growls were lower and generally sounded better. Until Haven, that is, which is the point where Stanne's growling voice impreved a lot, But he still puts syllables where they don't belnog sometimes....

But both of them are surpassed by Dan Swano. He's my favourite growler, and among my favourite clean vocallists.

I think Stanne beats out Akerfeldt because Stanne sings with so much passion and emotion, you can just drown in his voice, as Siren said. You can tell hes singing his heart out. Akerfeldt on the other hand while good, seems like someone said, just clean vocals, not near as much substance as Stannes.

But Ill agree with Klepto on one issue, Dan "THE MAN" Swano beats out everyone in the growls department, The guy can sustain and push his growls like no other, love that mans growls.

I'm probably going to buy Projector or Haven tomorrow when I go to Helsinki...
I went to our town's record store today but there wasn't any albums I was looking for so I ended up buying Amorphis' Elegy though I have heard it dozens of times before... but it was cheap (less than 10€) and my collection was lacking an (original*) Amorphis album.

*I do have two first but they're only copies...

and btw, Stanne's clean vocals are good :)

Well, I realise he's no Bruce Dickinson, but I wouldn't say 'unimpressive'.

Just listen to songs like 'Losing Myself', '15:36' (from Edge of Sanity - Infernal), Melissa (a Mecryful Fate cover), Revival (from Nightingale - Closing Chronicles) and tell me these aren't some kick-ass clean vocals. IMO he beats Stanne quite easily, and Akerfeldt doesn't even enter the competition...
