Cleaning DI tracks for reamping?

Using cubase over here but how do you guys clean up in between notes? Say in the breaks there is string noise or a slide that shouldnt be in there do you guys just cut out the noise completely (cut in between notes), lower the noise by editing volume on that section, or going in with the pencil feature which seems time consuming.

I am editing to grid but dont want to cut in between the notes because it seems so fake at times in between notes or do I need to fade out after every cut??

If the string noises between notes are not too loud you could put a noise gate on the track then monitor it with an ampsim while you adjust the settings.
