I was watching a show on TV last night about the best, biggest and all that about roller coasters and I love them myself. It’s usually, what, a 1-2 minute thrill, but some of these rides are killer! I was wondering what some of you think are the best coasters you’ve ever been on. I still haven’t check out the Superman at Six Flags yet, but I will. You can be that.

Then there’s water slides. Watching that show made me think of one I got in the wrong line for once. The steps were divided in half and there were 2 slides coming off the tower. I thought I got in the loopy one and I got in the shit-screamer instead. Those ones that drop straight down? I wasn’t down for that at all, but I waited in line for something...so I went. I think my back came off the slide going down. Talk about adrenaline surge. I forgot to keep my eyes open.

Anyone in here ever go skydiving or hang gliding?

And she was swathed in sorrow, as if born within its mask.

Let's see... I dont' like waterslides much, but I loveee rollercoasters. My favorite rollercoaster is the Steel Phantom, it's in Kennywood which is located near downtown Pittsburgh. I believe at its fastest part it's second fastest in the world (second to one in Japan). I don't know why I liked this one so much, but I did.

My second favorite is the Hulk at Islands of Adventure (the new park near Universal Studios in Orlando, FL) I waited like an hour in line (I waited extra to sit in the front). You get into the ride and you're inside, you're expecting it to do the classic beginning of a rollercoaster ascent to a steep drop. You hear a voice say "I think it's going to work this time" And suddenly a hydraulic thingy launches you straight up out of the building at very high speed, you immediately go into a loop/barrel roll thing. After that a lot of stuff happens, but I remember when it ended my adrenaline was going crazy and I was bouncing around in my seat. A shame the line was so long, only went on it one time. I went on the Steel Phantom about six times

The #1 coaster that I've ever been on: Apollo's Chariot @ Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA. Unbelievable. That sucker was built for speed - it was fast and smooth. The first time I rode it, my kids and I (my wife hates coasters) sat in the front seat, and all I could think of was that Fabio killed a duck with his face on the inaugeral (sp?) run of this coaster.

Next: Alpengeist @ the same Busch Gardens. I like this one because its the inverted kind where your feet dangles. At the top of the 1st rise, all you see is the twisted track below you - crazy.

Batman @ Six Flags in NJ - same theory as Alpengeist, and it was the 1st inverted coaster I was ever on.

Other noteworthy's:

Big Bad Wolf @ Busch Gardens in VA

The Mine Ride @ Disney World - I just plain love this coaster - and it is 4MPH faster than Space Mountain

Lochness Monster @ Busch Gardens in VA - starting to see a trend here? Busch Gardens has been the best park I've gone to for roller coasters.

Disappointments:

Superman @ Six Flags in MA - it was too choppy. Also, we waited in line for an hour, because it was 50 degrees when the park opened, and when they inspected the track, they said the track was a little warped due to the cold, and they needed settling time before it was safe to ride.

The Great American Scream Machine @ Six Flags NJ - this wooden coaster hurt. It was too rough a ride for my liking.

Space Mountain - dark and twisty - to me, it never seemed to get going

I don't do water parks, thus, water slides are out. I always seem to get stomach problems in pools, so I figure at these parks, all of this "scared shitless" water riding must force some pee (and ??) into the water - maybe that's why my stomach hurts in public water:lol:
I've been on a couple of those simple water rides - up the hill and down with a splash. The one @ Six Flags in MA is pretty good, although the name of the ride escapes me right now (I hate brain cramps):)

those are some good coasters that you mentioned...the ones from Bush Gardens in Williamsburg, that is...but I believe there is one even better and it is just up the road from Bush Gardens...and that is

The Volcano! - at Kings Dominion.

Awesome coaster...

The 2 best amusement parks for coasters, food, less waiting in line, etc..according to the Discovery Channel and those who are in that business are...

1. Cedar Point in Sandusky Ohio
2. Kennywood Park, West Mifflin PA.

I've driven past Kennywood before, but never stopped. And I think it's common knowledge that Cedar Point IS the #1 coaster park - one day, you'll see, I'll get there.:)

Wouldn't it be cool to listen to your favorite clip of an Opeth song while riding one of these coasters?

When they invent the 10-minute coaster ride, we Opethians are all set:)

I'VE GONE SKYDIVING! (Sorry, this is my proudest achievement!)

I'm actually a big wuss and hate rollercoasters, but I wanted to go skydiving for the sensation of floating -- not the freefall part. So I did a static-line jump (the parachute opens automatically) from 5,000 ft. by myself! I had to do 12 hours of training beforehand, and it's a good thing I did because the cords of my parachute were all twisted and I had to untwist them in the air. I actually started crying on the way down cause I was so proud of myself. It was the greatest senation ever. You'd think it would be loud with the wind, but it was absolutely still and quiet.

I landed in a cornfield though, which SUCKED. Imagine trying to walk through 10-ft tall corn with a parachute getting stuck on everything.

I woke up the next day with bruises EVERYWHERE, but it was the best experience of my life. Yay me. :)

Haha, that'd be cool. All those rides that they have with music blaring...Opeth would be real nice. ;)

I really liked Batman at Six Flags too. I went on 4 times in a row! We went for the weekend and bought admission for Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday it was going to rain so they were going to close the park at noon, but the admission price was the same for a full day. We already paid so of course we went in. The park was so dead. I practically ran for big boy in the corner - Batman! :heh:

We got to the entrance and ran up the ramps that the day before we stood in for an hour slowly inching up. We got to the coaster and there was maybe 1 coasters worth of people waiting. Stoked! We waited once for the front row. What a smooth ride! Then, when it stopped. There was like...NO ONE waiting! We sat right back down in the front row again! After that one, there were a few people waiting, but by now the front was the bomb and so we ran out the exit, back up the ramp...FOR MORE!! :loco:

Hey, Superman isn't all it's cracked up to be? At Six Flags in Mass. when it used to be Riverside Park I went then and there was a woody coaster there, Cyclone?, and it messed my back up so bad. It was ROUGH. I got a pic of me on it. It's hilarious. If I can remember I'll scan it and post. I laugh every time I see it.

I went SKY DIVING!

YOU DID?! That's wild!!! So, the landing was pretty rough. And tangled ropes!! Damn...you go girl! I don't really like that phrase myself...but it's so damn fitting! :D

Definitely my top two as well, with an honorable mention to The Grizzly at Kings Dominion. And if you want to talk about disappointments, did you get a chance to ride Drachen Fire at Busch before they shut it down? I felt like I got beaten in an alley by two guys named Rocco after I got off of that one.

ohh man you HAVE TO GO TO CEDAR POINT it is the best place in the world for roller coasters, they have the millinum force ohhh man it's 310' tall and drops you at a 89 degrees I think, well it's really steep:OMG: and it has a top speed of about 90 mph:yow: which right now is the fastest.:headbang: It the 2nd largest only to the one in Japan which isn't that much taller. And another good ride that they have there is called the rapter it really sweet an inverted coaster that is basically like the batman execpt I think it's better.

I REPEAT IF YOU HAVEN'T BEEN TO CEDAR POINT GOOOOOO ASSSSS SOON AS POSSIBLE YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!!!!!!

I know it is not as good as the ones already mentioned but has anyone ever been to Opryland in Nashville? It is the only one i have been to, unfortuantly. They tore it down to make a mall recently....the coolest ride there was probably The Hangman. When i was younger i loved to trip acid and sit in the front:) . Anyone ever rode a coaster on strong drugs?:loco:

You may be - but deciding on the best music for the ride? Man, that's a chore in itself!

Demon of the Fall...or is that too obvious?
